CENTRALIA – A 43-year-old local man is dead of a gunshot and Centralia police are questioning a suspect this afternoon.

Officers and aid were called just before 3 p.m. to a home on B Street, just north of East Third Street about someone being shot.

When paramedics were sent inside to check him, there were no signs of life, according to responders.

Centralia Police Department spokesperson Officer John Panco said he did not know if the suspect or the dead man lived at the house.

A suspect was picked up soon after by officers – driving in the Big Hanaford area and is being interviewed at the police station, Panco said.

His identity hasn’t been released and won’t be unless he is arrested, Panco said.

Crime scene tape was strung blocking access to a light green house with a pink bicycle and a black barbecue on its porch while officers conferenced outside with one another this afternoon.

Monique Camoza who works in an office across the street said she saw several people coming out of the house before police arrived, including a  screaming woman asking where the ambulance was, because “he’s dying.”

Although an arriving officer told her to stay out, she went back inside saying, “He doesn’t want to die alone,” Camoza said.

Officer Panco said he had no idea what transpired or who was inside the house before it happened.

Several people were being interviewed at the station, Panco said late this afternoon.

Across the street neighbor Lane Jolly said he didn’t hear anything but he knew the home’s resident, a man in his late 20s or early 30s who has resided there for seven or eight years.

He has a daughter who doesn’t live with him and seems to be a very good and very proud father, Jolly said.

He used to be a “high angle welder” but got injured, Jolly said.

“The last six months, things kinda went south for him,” Jolly said.

He’d been having a lot of trouble lately with people stealing things from him, he said.

“It’s a sad deal,” Jolly said, believing his across-the-street neighbor to be the man in custody.

Lewis County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer and his Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecutor Brad Meagher arrived not long after police.

They and commanding officers, including Chief Bob Berg were soon huddled in crime scene response vehicle, writing a search warrant so they could back inside, according to Panco.

Just after 7 p.m., the police department announced Weston G. Miller was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for first-degree murder.

Miller, 29, is the resident of the green house in question, according to Panco.

The victim is also a Centralia resident, but police did not release his name.

Panco said that’s the coroner’s office responsibility and he expected they would do that after next-of-kin are notified.

very sad…Even though I haven’t seen Wes & his family for at least 5 yrs, I would never of thought he was capable of killing someone. I knew him when he was a welder, for @ least 3+ years. He & “K” & their daughter came over to my house quite often. My ex and Wes worked together so I saw him almost everyday. I know that you really don’t know a person until you live with them. But what I saw at my house, at Wes’s house, or at his work, was a kind & loving Dad & family man. His little girl was a daddy’s girl for sure. All I can think is if his family was in danger he may have been protecting them. We don’t know. Sounds like the only witness will probably run the show. More than likely not a creditable person. I know if I toke someone + their girlfriend into my home & they were violent towards each other, fighting & yelling, etc., I would get them out. But here’s something to think about…..Maybe Wes just has a big heart & was giving them a few days to get out not wanting to put them on the street. I would protect my family too. I have children & if someone is coming at me IN MY OWN HOME, if I was afraid my kids were in danger, I’D SHOOT. and I am far from violent. But when it comes to protecting my children…. I don’t have a problem being a guest on “SNAPPED”. And yes I understand the neighbor said Wes’s daughter didn’t “live” with him but I know she did live in that very house for several years. She has a bedroom their & I would imagine she visits. Would be interested to know if she was there & if not, when she had been last. ….just saying!!! but I probably will be elected for Panco’s team after posting this….

I feel really sad for Davids family and my heart goes out to them.David was and is will always have a place in our hearts and will not ever be forgotten. he was going to help my grandson with his baseball he is just a little boy we are all very heart broken. God be with his family and true friends.

  4. me says:

If Sara Delsavo would have reported that Wes was offering to kill David the day before David would be alive today becuase wes would have been in jail for the firearms. And if the police were there several times before why didnt they search the house then? It makes you wonder who lives next door to you?????

  5. me says:

Sara Desavo should be convicted of MURDER with Wes after all she is the reason David was there. She is a very evil person.. She has a restraining order against her becuase she is a very violent person and had to be removed by a court order from a elderly mans house becuase he was afarid she might kill him.I am sure she had something to do with this. Please don’t judge David by the cover of the book open it and read. he was avery loving man and fell into the evil hands of Sara. She is guilty of MURDER to.How dare her cry.she is a full blowen lier.

  7. tc says:

david was a well respected man to others he cared about his friends and family and would help out anyone if he could,,as far as the girlfriend goes how come she didnt notify police then when he voluntierd(oops) to shoot him the day before?????and who are all these people that ran out of the house?

  8. T says:

I dont know Miller, however I do know Carson, and unfortunately Carson’s girlfriend Sara. I do know Carson and Sara to be constantly at each others throats. She’s the kind of girl who wants her cake and eat it too! She didn’t want him anymore, but didn’t want anyone else to have him either. Misery loves company! I wouldn’t be surprised if she didn’t have anything to do with whole thing to begin with? Why else would she tell the cops that Miller offered to shoot Carson for her, the day before? I know i wouldn’t offer to shoot someone just because! However, if i had feelings for someone that was in a relationship and only saw what that person wanted me to see. I then might? “Hypothedicly speeking that is?” I know that i really dont like this woman at all. She’s the spaun of saitan that were’s three faces…………

  11. M Morgan says:

I’ve known Wes for about 14 years. He’s the last person I would ever suspect of murder. I’m in disbelief. The only circumstance I can imagine would him protecting him family or his home.

  12. Wonder what happened? Ive known Wes for many years and cant imagine him as a murderer. A LOT more info to come Im sure. Another sad day in LC…..

  13. DClark says:

And of course the Chronicle doesn’t have this. They should have you doing their work for them.

  14. George says:

Thank you, Sharyn, for the updates.

  15. John says:

Why do we keep a spokesman like Panco on the force if he doesn’t know anything? Every time he is interviewed by the media he just acts like an arrogant prick. The suspect’s name was broadcast over the scanner as Westly Miller
