me: The problem is more likely to be that unless the man with dementia has been declared incompetent to care for himself, it’s not actually illegal. Immoral, yes, wrong, yes, but not illegal. After all, anyone can tell the dealership, oh, he has dementia, don’t sell to him, but there’s no binding force to that with him having been declared legally not fit to make his own commercial transactions etc.

Usually in most states there is then someone assigned as a fiscal guardian. Maybe they’re still going through the steps for that, maybe not – who knows? But as far as the morality and ethics are concerned, that dealership and its employees should be ashamed.

Is it possible that the ill man can tell a very good story and has some line of credit that can float it? The police didn’t seem to think it was an illegal deal (because I thought that at a certain level of deception it can be counted as abuse).

Or is the ex-wife ticked off about ex’s money and wanted to stir up some trouble?

No, I am NOT a used car sales person fan, but details were kind of vague…..

  3. Disgusted says:

Whomever sold the six cars to an elderly man with dementia deserves a serious ass kicking, at the very least. Almost as good would be a word-of-mouth boycott of any piece of shit that would do that to an older person – or anyone!

  4. Disgusted says:

I know it isn’t Chehalis Auto Center on Market because there were two businesses there. One used car dealership that went out of business a while back, and a private auto mechanic. I know the guy (auto mechanic) personally. His name is Kevin and I have been taking my vehicles to him for years. He has never done me wrong and his work is very reasonable. And as you all know, a good, honest mechanic is very hard to find. If you go see him, tell him one of his regular clients recommended him.

  5. If_I_Owned_A_CarLot says:

I think if I was the owner of any of the car lots mentioned on this page and was NOT the one who sold the man with dementia six cars… I would stop by this page and make a big deal about it. Otherwise, every one of them is getting ‘tarred with the same brush’.

  6. LCR says:

I don’t know which one it was, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it were the I-5 Ford dealership. We looked at buying a truck a couple of months ago and the salesman there was an incredible bully who almost got into a fist-fight with our regular mechanic.

That said, there’s also a salesman at the dealership in Centralia who I’d steer clear of – used to have his own small lot in Chehalis which went under and he got nailed for some very shady practices.

  7. just somebody says:

lets see chehalis car lots, titus will, i-5 scion toyota, the one there on market, o the one at yard birds, am i missing any ???

  8. Disgusted says:

Any way you could “leak” the name of that slimebag “autodealer” Sharyn?

  9. GuiltyBystander says:

It’s a crime to swipe some guy’s toolbox but it’s okay for an auto dealer to sell SIX cars to a man with dementia? Nice to see our “justice” system looking out for the most vulnerable seniors.

    @FreeAir …. and pawn shops!

It’s time to do a sting on the scrap yards. They are helping to feed the local thieves rather than doing what’s right.
