Trooper assaulted on Interstate 5 at Chehalis

CHEHALIS – An off-duty police officer and another passerby intervened when a state trooper and a pedestrian scuffled on the side of Interstate 5 at Chehalis this evening.

Aid, and perhaps as many as a half dozen police officers, responded about 6:25 p.m. to the southbound off ramp at Main Street.

Neither were seriously injured, according to responders.

Washington State Patrol spokesperson Trooper Ryan Tanner said he didn’t yet know many details.

“Don’t know why the contact, or why the scuffle,” Tanner said.

The trooper’s glasses were broken when he was hit just below his eye with some kind of metallic object, like a lug nut, Tanner said.

The trooper, whose identity was not released, declined to go to the hospital, according to the Chehalis Fire Department. It wasn’t the kind of injury that required stitches, Fire Capt. Rob Gebhart said.

The other individual had only scrapes, he said.

The passersby took the individual into custody, Tanner said.

Actually, “Dirty Cop Enforcer”, all anyone needs to do is sit back and let you spew out your vitriolic blathering nonsense, and you discredit yourself. As for all of those folks that you have “registered” on your website, how many of them actually registered their self? Or did you register them for them? Ya know, that’s called “Libel.” “Defamation of Character” is another thing there.

As for putting people into categories in order to “make us better than someone else,” well, that Sex Offender Registry takes care of that. After all, a sex offense IS a crime, and the Sex Offender Registry is a means that ALL the people (even you!) can use in order to ensure that they and their families are protected. It seems to work, too. Yes, people still have sex offenses committed against them, but those on the list are being watched, and can be returned to prison pretty quickly for any violations of the terms of their release.

But, since you seem to find that the Sex Offender Registry is, in and of itself offensive, perhaps we should just send all the sex offenders over to your place, and let you take care of them. In the meantime, I’ll stick with keeping the list in place, as approved by, oh, every court in the land, including the supreme experts in constitutional law, the United States Supreme Court.

  2. Concerned I laugh at your comment. My web site had over 3,000 hits yesterday. You can try and discredit me all you like. The facts are the Police have been caught On video and Camera violating the Law. The Sex Offender Thing is the Laughing Stock. I guess people like you will do anything to put themselves in a catagory that makes them better then someone else. Calling on Sharoyn to help you, Please help yourself

  3. Concerned says:

Well, his website is a total manic/schizophrenic wonderland. No sense of order or sanity at all and he obviously cannot take criticism based on his wild response. He’s been arrested before by your local police department so all anyone would have to do is put in a public records request and they have to give you his name. Then go to the county sex offender registrar and cross reference the name to see if he’s on their data base. I do it all the time here at home! It’s easy! I’m telling you, we had a guy just like this here in Oregon and he was a predatory molester. And yes, not that he’s going to molest anyone through a cheesy blog like this but it would shed a lot of light on his crazy rants! Sharyn, do your magic! You have to have connections. Is this guy legit it just another on line lunatic trying to hide a dark past?

  4. George says:

Actually, once I DO figure out who it is, I won’t do a darn thing…. since there isn’t a darn thing I could do anyways…. LOL… As for calling it names, sure, why not? It might be fun!

  5. Camera Man says:

George, what are you going to do when you find out who this guy is? Let me guess call him names? Who cares who he is! What are you some kind of internet hit man?.. What happens if this guy has cameras all over his home and you fall into his trap?

  6. George says:

“Concerned”, I have a good idea who “Dirty Cop Enforcer” is…. it’s going to take a little bit more of listening to it’s rantings and ravings (everything is a conspiracy!!), but as I say, I have an good idea who it is….

  7. Here’s another prime example of a corrupt police officer. His name is David Brame, this Pierce County Police Officer Murdered his wife and then himself in front of his own kids. Numerous police complaints were made against this police criminal, yet he was never brought to justice. http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=125208&page=1 I could find lying cops all over the Internet, the fact is Police can no longer be trusted.
The Police State is Real and lying Police Officers are the Norm. Here is another example of Dirty Cops. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Serpico There are still a few good cops left, but the fact is I often talk to police officers, they contact me through my web site. The reason they contact me is because when Police Whistle Blowers blow the whistle, it’s the good cops that loose their jobs not the dirty ones…America is rotten from the inside, and taking out police trash is the cure to saving the Constitution. This officer might of been doing his job, but we all know that Dirty Cops are everywhere even in this county…

  8. huh? says:

    DEPUTY McKnight

  9. It sure is good that some good citizens jumped in to help the officer. But I must add that no one helps citizens when the police department is beating a citizen. Here is another example of an Inocent man beaten and killed by Police Officers. The whole incident was caught on Camera, no one jumped in to help this inocent man http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otto_Zehm In this day an age never trust an Armed Tax Collector. The facts are adding up against Dirty Cops in the United States, just go to youtube and watch all of the Police Brutality….In fact I can prove that the Centralia Police did in fact violate my rights so,your right it’s time for citizens to jump in when they see police corruption and do whats right…..After all Officer Matthew McNight murdered an unarmed man… Where’s his justice?….. There are two sides to every story and Centralia Wa. Is the Kangaroo Court Capitol of the World…

  10. “Concerned” I laugh at your comment.. The safety of all of us you say. Let me guess I’m going to jump out of my computer and assault you?. And then to say that I don’t have a job because I have all of this time on my hands.. Really? Last time I checked I was a liscened business owner…. There’s nothing that will stop my 1st ammendement rights to make civil and non threatening comments on this site.. Lets not forget that Police Corruption is at an all time high. And furthermore I have alot of proof that supports my claims, Sharyn has no obligation to give you my information and doing so would be an infringement on my rights. So if you knew who I was would that make you the better person? Let me guess you would send some hard core thugs my way… Welcome to the Nanny State….

I would have shot the guy…

  12. Concerned says:

Sharyn, would you please do this county a favor and dig into the history of this dirty cop enforcer lunatic, figure out who he really is, if he has a criminal record, and expose him. He’s nuts and obviously doesn’t work since he has so much time on his hands to constantly harass the citizens of this county w his lunacy. We had a guy like this back in Oregon who hated everything and everyone around him and made up weird stuff about the govt and demonstrated outside city hall and he ended up being a predatory child molester!!! Sharyn, please look into this guy for the safety of all of us!!!!

@ LC Citizen, the suspended license comment was sarcasm and the “million of them out there anyways” comment was an exaggeration. However, I do feel that this area does have an overabundance of law enforcement for the size of the area.

@ FreeAir, I will remember that if I ever am being robbed, beaten, or whatever and I see/hear somebody driving by yelling that I’ll think of this moment right now. However, the people with training I spoke of will most likely be the ones doing it so I won’t have to worry about waiting for them. (that is also sarcasm)

@ Flaming Liberal, I am assuming your handle (name) is also sarcasm or you are very chauvinistic for a Liberal. As for me being a p*ssy because I don’t butt into to situations that have nothing to do with me I’ll just say we apparently have differing definitions of the derogatory term.

Jeeze, I didn’t mean to ruffle so many feathers. What happened to having a sense of humor? My apologies to those I offended and hope you all have a nice 4th of July.

  14. This is a Good Example of a Citizens arrest, Now if we could just arrest Centralia City Officials for adding drugs in our water supply.. Take a good look at your toothpaste tube, Fluoride is a Drug….Lets make a Citizen arrest just like these citizens did on our city water officials…

  15. the guys that helped says:

let me get the story straight. but 1st i would like to say to all the people that seen this going down and didnt get out of there cars to help, thanks! I was giving my brother in law a ride in my new car, as were getting off the exit we see this state patrol man with his tazer gun out and was yelling at this other guy to drop what was in his hand. We then decited to stop to make sure everything was going to be okay. with in a flash this crazy guy threw a big truck lug nut like a baseball and his the officer right below the right eye. at the same time the officer fired his tazer gun, not sure what happen but the tazer did nothing to this guy.

Then this guy started punching the state patrol man 3 or 4 times, then the officer was able to grabbed the guy like a bear hug. My brother in law got to them 1st and tackeled them both to get the fight on the ground, soon after i jumped in. everything went so fast, I dont know for sure if this guy was on drugs but there was 3 of us fighting him trying to get him contained, this guy was giving a good fight, like i said everything went so fast, this guy would not stop fighting so the only thing my brother in law and i could do was start punching this guy.

About 2 min later 2 undercover cars pulled up and 2 more officers jumped in, it took all 5 of us to get this guy in hand cuffs. After we got him in cuffs about half of lewis county law in forcement was there.

Yes the officer was okay, had a pretty good gash under that right eye but he was okay. thay treated my hand from where i punched that guy, bloody my nuckels a little bit. later that night my brother in laws hand started hurting but hes fine.

To the guy that dont think we should of helped. You never know what could of happen, lewis county could be called that officers wife and tell he that her husband wasnt coming home that night. I stand for my country,my county, my city its call being a man! that officer puts his life on the line everyday, he deserves the help that my brother in law and i gave him yesterday! Our country would be so much better if everyone thought the same way!

I HEARD THAY WERE FITING OVER A DONUT

  17. Wow says:

I heard it was a pedestrian that was on the freeway and the car was the person that stopped to help. Glad everything worked out okay and the bad guy will have his day in court. Great Job Troop!

  18. flaming liberal says:

Roger8176, if you are a woman, you shouldn’t post about things you know nothing about. If you’re a man, I would love to meet your wife. I would simply smile and then wink at her, cause she knows she’s married to a pussy.

  19. LC CITIZEN says:

@ Roger8176 … How did you come up with the idea that the suspect “must have had a suspended license”? The article says the Trooper was out with a pedestrian.

And to the pedestrian that helped – Great Job! We need more people like you out there helping our Law Enforcement Officers and not trying to hurt them like this person obviously was. When it comes to officers, there really isn’t “a million of them out there lately anyways” like Roger8176 seems to think .. Especially in this county where they are spread so far and few between …

  20. Free Air says:

    Roger8176,

I sure wish I knew what you looked like. That way if I ever see you or your family getting your butt kicked, robbed or just beaten I could roll down the window and shout out “Hang in there, someone with training should be along pretty soon”.

It’s civilians willing to get involved that prevented Flight 93 on September 11th. from being a guided missile, not trained professionals. The more the civilian population is willing to do what is right, the less we will have to depend on the Government to bail us out. Guess I’m just not a fan of being taken care of by the “nanny state” of mind.

Kudos to the civilian who helped out. That’s called taking a stand and being a Man!

  21. Roger8176 says:

I saw part of this driving north on the freeway. At the point I saw it it was what appeared to be two Troopers and a plain clothed man trying to hold the guy down. It looked they were struggling as the guy was trying to form a base (a wrestling term for getting up from your stomach to your knees). About a minute later I see the cavalry coming down the freeway to respond and a couple minutes later…the ambulances. He must have had a suspended license.

To the pedestrian that helped, not always the best idea. A good way to get hurt. They are well trained and it’s their job to deal with that stuff. It’s not like there aren’t a million of them out there lately anyways. Usually they don’t appreciate the help since that almost makes them look worse than if the guy just got away.

  22. Free Air says:

I heard the Trooper has a fractured facial bone but nothing that is not expected to heal up. Glad some citizens came to the Trooper’s aid. We all need to jump in and do what’s right and not just drive by…

  23. repete says:

Kudos to those that stopped to help the trooper!
