CHEHALIS – The trial for James M. Reeder won’t take place until early next year.

The attorney for the 25-year-old Centralia man requested it be set out further into the future while he waits for autopsy reports on 2-year-old Koralynn Fister.

Koralynn Fister

Reeder was in Lewis County Superior Court briefly this morning where he waived his rights to a speedy trial.

Reeder is accused in the May 24 death of his live-in girlfriend’s youngest daughter.

Prosecutors allege Reeder tortured and raped the little girl. She was pronounced dead at the hospital after Reeder claimed he found her face down in the bathtub.

According to the coroner, Koralynn died from drowning and head trauma.

The trial is scheduled for the week of January 28.

Reeder is charged with homicide by abuse, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of first-degree child rape and possession of methamphetamine.

He has pleaded not guilty and remains held in the Lewis County Jail on $5 million bail.

This baby needs a head stone! Try to help donate money if you can please!

  2. Nonexistent Justice says:

There is no justice in our broken system. This decision proves that. Our children have no chance against monsters like Reeder if this is how our “legal system” handles them. ‘they’ are as bad as the scumbags they are “helping”. Poor child…and with weak action like this, it is excruciating to think that poor Koralynn will not be the last. It makes the US similar to a third world country that does nothing to protect its weakest members.

  3. You People says:

The percentages stated were to do with cases, not people. 75% of the time, the mother knew. 50% of the time it happened to them. 25% of the time they actively participated. One mother could fit one or more of these statistics. IE, for the morons who cannot read, ONE mother could fit into both the 50% and 25% stat.

  4. Redemption says:

I couldn’t care less about the statistics. Why is anyone even arguing this? (I am pretty sure that I agree with your outrage sunshinegirl! The other comments are ignorant and a waste of time.)

Bottom line, this guy did these horrendous things to a baby girl and he should have all the same things done right back to him!

The mother should also be culpable because there is NO WAY that a mother would not notice these types of injuries to her 2-year old.

I wish they would just let him out of jail. Then real justice would be done to him. He deserves no mercy, forgiveness or kindness. He is a monster.

  5. HIPPA became law in 1995 or 1996

  6. Hmm. says:

I think they should just do the trail now and put him where he needs to be. All the evidence is there that he is guilty. I also believe the mother of the child should be getting something to because how could you not notice the marks and the wounds on this little girls body. I hope that they change the trail to sooner and put him where he needs to be

Hound , about 30 years ago , before Mary Bridge childrens hospital merged with T.G. I had child with cancer and we spent 8 long years there and I became very close with several people who worked there. I was not from Tacoma and would only hear about things from the newspapers. When I would be there I would ask how the children from these stories I had read about were doing. Of course the Lady who said this to me could not give details because of Hippa , but that is what she told me and the other lady laughed at her and told her she was gonna get her a black hat ,(it must have been fall) I said what? She said you know a black witches hat, having just met this women over lunch in the cafeteria with another staff member I was confused. She then told me what the womens job was. I thought at the time what a crappy job , to have to make those decisions. I guess it would make you angry and a bit defensive. I was looking at it from the point of view of some poor woman who might have unknowingly brought a monster into her home, and thats when the shit hit the fan. I am not saying this is the gospel according to me but in the years since, and in my old age the innocence has been replaced , and by the way I am in the people business also , and I really do not want to think about the things I have seen and know to be true. If you dwell on it too much it is hard to see the good in people and the good generally out runs the evil, as for you Capt, read it again and what math? I do not care whether you find me credible or not. The women who told me this was given a job of great responsibility so I think she was pretty credible. but she was angry and a bit disillusioned at the burden of it all. The thing I really get is the horror of even considering that it could be true , I sure felt it even after more then thirty years, so I understand if it is hard for anyone else to have to hear it. My main problem is the first line of defense for children is the MOTHER and where oh where was hers as her child was tortured and raped?????

  8. huh? says:

    Factual or not…..

Can you really count up the numbers? 150%?

Out of 100 persons, 75 of them know, and 25 of them are helping… Does that really mean that 100 of them are guilty? Or does it mean that there are 50 who were abused and turn a “blind eye” and do nothing while 25 of them know and assist?

Really, should not they be their own stats?
    75 of 100
    50 of 100
    25 of 100
    so
150 of 300 are guilty and 150 of 300 are unaware?

  9. capt.obvious says:

Just want to point out that statistically speaking,
    75% + 50% + 25% = 150%

I get the idea of what you are trying to say, but it just sounds wrong the way you said it. Making it all seem even less credible….

  10. I would be interested in know where these statistic originated. After 35 years in social services, have never heard anything such as this set of statistics. They may be accurate but would like to know the ACCURATE source.

  11. sunshinegirl says:

Justice sure isn’t gonna be swift for this child , and what about the (and I use this title loosely) Mother , the statistics on this kind of case tell us that 75% of the time the mothers know , 50% of the time this also happened to them and horrifically 25% of the time they actually actively participate in the abuse of their child, so which is it in this case? Years ago my heart would have gone out to her but I am ALOT older now and the person who gave me these stats worked at Mary Bridge and she was the person who determined if children who were admitted (and abuse was suspected) went home with their parents or were remanded to state care. She was spittin mad when she gave me these horrible statistics , told me do not ever waste your sympathy on these women as even if they were abused as children they are not children any more and they have a choice . Every time I see that sweet babies face I want to scream for her and the justice she probably will not get. That is a jury I would like to be on.
