With temperatures forecast in Centralia for the mid to high 90s tomorrow and Thursday, the city is inviting folks without air conditioning to hang out in the city council chambers.

Individuals are welcome to spend time in a temperature controlled environment between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on those two days, according to Centralia Police Chief Bob Berg. Water will be available.

It could reach 98 degrees tomorrow, according to the National Weather Service.

Authorities advise heat illnesses are possible, so people should stay out of the sun, drink plenty of water, wear a hat and use sunscreen. The weather service suggests it’s a good idea to check up on relatives and neighbors.

Centralia City Hall is located at 118 W. Maple St.

Children younger than 12 must be accompanied and supervised.

Additionally, a red flag warning is in place for much of Western Washington including the Southwest Interior, because the combination of high heat, low humidity and strong winds will create the potential for explosive fire growth.

@CentraliaNeedsHelp – if you don’t like this place, go somewhere else! Just as those who bitch about our country… if it’s so bad here, PLEASE, feel free to go wherever it is that you feel you would have more freedom and opportunity! Oh, and by the way, — “tax feeders” ??? I bet you don’t get any government assistance right?

  2. Hang out at the City Hall and drink Fluoridated Water and eat donuts with Jimbo and Bob I Berg…LOL What, all of a sudden the city of Centralia cares about the community. If they cared about our community the police department would enforce the parking laws on main street next to Fullers. The employee’s constantly park in the yellow zone, making it almost impossible to pull out of their parking lot safely. The City Officials don’t care about there community. In fact I tried to pick up the trash on Tower Avenue and had a Gun pointed at me by the Police Department. So much for Community Service in this Community. But I guess it’s OK to hang out at the city hall with all of the Tax Feeders with the AC running on high. At least they turn off the city hall’s lights during the day time now. Thanks to me saying something about it last year.
