The Olympian reports attorneys agreed to recommend a prison sentence of just over 18 years for a woman whose 4-month-old baby died after she assaulted it in a Grand Mound trailer home in September of last year.

Rachel Bryan, 21, pleaded guilty today to second-degree murder in Thurston County Superior Court, according to news reporter Jeremy Pawloski.

The Centralia woman was arrested after medics were called about an infant in distress and found the child with acute head injuries. The baby died four days later at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma.

I actually shared a cell with Ms. Bryan for about two months. The girl is seriously sick in the head and I hope she gets the psychological help that she needs while in the prision system. I never saw her really angry about anything or sympathic but I did see was a scared little girl who needed parenting herself before she could parent her son and you could feel the anger that she had just by being in the room with her. I often write Bryan, as I know what its like being locked up and getting mail from the “outside” is the one thing you can look forward too. She writes me back sometimes and lets me know whats going on, I was under the impression from her letters and sharing a small little cell with her is that she was going to pull the “post partum psychoisis” card out but I guess she realized that there was a very good chance she would get more time had she not taken the plea and went on with trial. Another “bunkie” of Rachel’s was on the docket to testify for the states place. I just want to leave on one note, when the NP saw signs of abuse why didn’t they take the baby and do the investigation then and there THEN allow the child and mother to be reconnected if terms allow. I pray often for her that she can come to terms with the fact that this might have been her only chance at being a mother and she threw it away, The Lord be with Ms Bryan as she the time she has to spend locked up is nothing compared to the childs face she sees happy in pictures.

Wow… Aren’t you special! You proclaim maternal love, then wonder
aloud in a public forum how you amaze youself with your own overflowing selflessness! Oh well, I guess we all need to pat ourselves on the back from time to time.

No parent is the same, but I love my child more then life itself. And I don’t understand how someone can be so selfless. Shame on her. Adoption people!!!!!!
