The Olympian reports Thurston County sheriff’s deputies fatally shot a man this morning they tracked after a break-in at the Littlerock Grocery Store.

News reporter Chelsea Krotzer writes it happened sometime after 2:20 a.m. on Waddell Creek Road when the suspect came out of a home and threatened law enforcement officers with an unspecified “deadly weapon” that was not a gun or a knife.

Krotzer says a team of multiple agencies from five neighboring counties is investigating.

tnt says we have a society of retarded cops most likely they were bullied as kids and then grew up to become Big Retarded little boys thinking with a badge and a gun, they are so scared all they want to do is shoot innocent civilians. We need to shitcan all cops and start over with sane men, keith miles only had a third of a pool cue, He did brake windows but he never entered the store. keith’s father could have prevented him from being murdered by one of the retarded cops, some of the other retards had him pin to the ground face down in the mud

  2. Huh? says:

DCE, you are correct, if there were no police then our society would be so much nicer to each other and people wouldn’t get drunk… and angry…. and drive and crash… and fight each other….NOT! It’s like you are saying that because of the police people make poor decisions. wow.

  3. XX XX so your saying a police officer lost his balance and then started firing at the Victim? Sounds about right, the police are trigge happy and scared. Then need to get real men on the job. Me myself I deal with cows, there unpredictable and dangerous but we never have to shoot them… If I can take a hit from a cow the police should be able to handle a Cue stick.. Bear Mace anyone.
The Police are the Problem in todays society

These comments make me sad; people are so very uninformed, yet feel they can express their opinion so recklessly. Keith Miles was a close friend, he had many anger and depression issues. He had a severe issue with alcoholism. Keith Miles detested drugs and the people who did them. I am disgusted with the amount of comments suggesting such things; Meth? Really? people are ridiculous. His behavior in the evening he was murdered was completely inappropriate, criminal and belligerent. I hate that I see the word burglarize, or deadly force associated with his name I am horrified, Keith Miles has never stolen in his life. Vandalized, broken or destructed property in an fit of frustration; absolutely, unacceptable, and criminal. NOT a “lowlife burglar” as I read. I have experienced many explosions of emotion with Keith, I have seen immense anger, and destruction but never harm. He resists authority and gets angry and “puffs up”. I am not saying this is appropriate, smart or even remotely acceptable; especially in the given situation. I am sure of several things, Keith came out belligerently drunk and resisting arrest with a pool cue in his hand. In a short amount of time, he was tazed with a pool cue in his hand. He was unaffected by a tazer, not due to street drugs but alcohol and rage. When the police officer who was conducting “force” slipped and fell Keith was immediately shot by a weak skittish officer. I have seen this man angry so many times; I guarantee you this was what happened. People can debate a pool stick being a weapon until their blue in the face, the fact is there was 1 man hindered by the effects of alcohol killed within moments of emerging his families home. There were 6 police officers available to assist in the situation at hand. He did not assault anyone! he had a pool stick in his hand, which a deputy state he was swinging threateningly (no). This seems to be a trend in WA, people questionably killed by officers of law. At least these victims normally have guns, or are attacking police officers. Perhaps our officers could concentrate on arresting the violent, meth addicted thief’s of our community; as opposed to tracking down and killing a troubled, kind emotionally distraught man for no reason.

  5. Miss Muffet says:

Hey Dirty Cop Enforcer, instead of ranting on a stupid blog, why not run for city council or become a police officer yourself? Don’t just talk about change, do something about it! Be positive and productive, not negative and hostile. Take your own advice and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Or is there some reason you can’t?

  6. Disgusted says:

Another idiot, just like that other one who got himself shot by the police recently. What do you want to bet these people will find some scummy, ambulance chasing piece fo shit lawyer to represent them in (yet another f)rivolous lawsuit? Of course, this guy’s mommy isn’t evern going to admit that her own behavior started things off on a bad note. She is harboring her thief/vandal/lowlife kid after he has committed a crime and dares to go out and confront the police there to arrest him? To me, that speaks volumes about how he was raised. This would also explain why he was vandalizing someone else’s property and went at the cops swinging without thinking about the consequences of such an action. I can’t imagine the pain of losing a child, and for that I truly sympathize with the family – but don’t go trying to make him look like some helpless, innocent victim when he was anything but!

  7. chris says:

According to Jim Fisher True Crime, Washington State is in the top 10 states for officer involved shooting deaths.

  8. Kari oakie says:

Check out article in the Bellingham Herald on Nov. 1-Woman comes out of her house with TWO knives and threatens to kill the cops who were outside. They didn’t shoot her. Was it because she was a woman?

  9. George says:

Soaper, to give you a little insight, a person with a weapon, ANY weapon, can cover a fairly good distance in a very short time. Now, if it is 2 in the afternoon, for example, and the cop is 30 feet away from the guy swinging a pool cue, he’s got time to call for back-up and to deploy his taser.

But at 2 in the morning, when it is dark out, and if the cop is only like 10-15 feet away from the person swinging the cue, that distance can be covered in microseconds. Many times, the cops don’t have the time to call for back-up or to use non-lethal methods to stop the person. They have to make a split second decision. NOW.

Now, with the taser, there are MANY cases out there where they are completely ineffective. Even after getting zapped two, three, even four times. And if the person was slinging a knife or sword around, who in their right mind would bum rush him then?

You are correct in that a cop usually does have alternatives to shooting someone. You DO hear of cases where the cop gets in trouble for having a “shoot first, ask questions later” attitude, and those are the very ones that you wouldn’t want to be a cop to begin with.

As for the training that cops go through since the 80’s, it is only to match the level of violence that the criminal element brings to the table. If you remember, problems used to be solved by going out in back and just having a fight… now, those problems are “solved” by doing a drive-by shooting, ambushes, that sort of thing. Cops need to be able to deal with those threats more than ever.

And with the proliferation of mood-altering chemicals out there (things like cocaine and meth), it changes the situation even more.

So once again, we come to the “who is the real victim in this case.” If is the guy who was shot and killed by the cop, or was it the cop? The guy who was shot, well, yeah, you could say he is a victim, but did he bring this down on himself? Did anyone force him to start swinging a pool cue around in a threatening manner? Was there other issues that the story didn’t tell us?

And what about the cop? Did he WANT to shoot the guy? If he did, he has no business being a cop. Most likely, he is the one who would be a victim here, simply because he has to live the rest of his days knowing that he took the life of another human being.

  10. Soaper says:

Hello. Yes, I realize a pool cue has the potential to be a dangerous weapon and even one that could kill. So can a fist. The point I am getting at is it is ridiculous that this guy (even though thieves are lowlifes) got shot. If he is swinging a pool cue get a group of 3 or 4 officers there to bum rush him. He might graze one, but that is part of the job. Picture four cops having you surrounded and you have a pool cue. Do you really think that you are going to accomplish much?

Regarding the taser, if one guy tased him and it didn’t work (which I find very surprising) then maybe a couple of the other cops on the scene could also tase him. I guarantee it will eventually work.

There were just so many alternatives to shooting this guy. I know some might not agree, but I will stand by my belief that the majority of cops are way too aggressive. One problem is this is how they’ve been trained since the mid-80’s. Then you have the guys who just shouldn’t be cops at all out there in the uniform.

  11. No Kyle, could you donate some money. Mexico sounds good. Will you pay for a round trip Ticket. Can I take my Camera with me?

  12. Kyle says:

You’re one to talk about name calling. Do you have your plane ticket for Mexico yet?

  13. Oh, “Moron” another Name Caller… How big you are… In a verbal fight, Names always make the other person more powerful. NOT!

  14. Kyle says:

    I’m neither you MORON!!

  15. Kyle are you an angry Centralia Police Officer that’s mad about the video’s I produce? Or are you just another person thay cannot handle Screen Art? Because that’s what I bring to the Table

  16. kyle says:

Lowe, the fact of the matter is you manipulate facts for your own twiated ways and then try to pass it onto the community. We arent buying your Bull Shit! I’ve said it once and will say it again…MOVE TO ANOTHER COUNTRY SINCE YOU HATE OT HERE SO MUCH!

  17. George says:

“Dirty Cop Enforcer”… hiding behind a screen name…

  18. I find it funny everyone attacks me for showing the community the facts. This man was on Fluoride Based Anti Depressants. Another thing, everyone that attacks me and does it hiding behind a screen name. I am the only one that has it all out on the line making a real change in the community.

  19. Kyle says:

Silent nite: their is a big difference between trying to assault someone with a blunt object vs. having a maglight in your car. You’re just being rediculous.

  20. Kyle says:

Crystal, you obviously did not read the whole story because the police did use a taser and it had no affect.

  21. Kyle says:

And again in reply to alot of the postings…. Law Enforcement does match force with equal force, it is unpractical and to many people would get hurt. marnelg; Police are not trained to shoot people in the legs, they are trained to shoot center mass, which in this case was precise. This gentlemen attempted to hurt a cop with a blunt weapon and was killed. He chose his destiny. If he would have just complied and done what he was told, he’d still be alive today.

  22. Silent Night, you record it like the Dirty Cop Enforcer Does. Catch the police criminals in the act like he did. This guy is a Hero to the community!

  23. marnelg says:

It just seems that when there are multiple police officers on scene, they shouldn’t have to KILL a pool cue waving guy. If they must use their guns, take out his leg…not his life. Without being there, excessive force sure seems likely.

  24. crystal says:

Isn’t this why police officers have tazers, clubs ect…. I personally think that they probly had enough time to use a tazer time Instead of having to shoot and kill someone. Twice in 2 says is bad.

  25. Kyle says:

Peter_Newnan Escrow says- You are an idiot and are blowing things out of perportion. Why dont you go be a cop for awhile and tell us about it. Quit judging someone without walking in their shoes!

  26. Kyle says:

Soaper, have you ever been hit repeatedly in the head by a blunt object? The Officers tried to use a less than lethal weapon and it failed. A reasonable person could conclude that being hit in the head even once by a blunt object could result in death, it happens all the time. Its sad this man had to be killed but he chose his own path.

  27. Silent Night says:

I’m really beginning to wonder whether justified or not, is it REALLY the cops are scared, or is the criminal element becoming more aggressive towards police?? Maybe a little of both?? I’d be having my hands visible as soon as being pulled over these days. What if I had a mag lite in my vehicle? I could be shot due to not having my hands visible, and then they could use the flashlight to say “it could have been a deadly weapon” c’mon people! Wake up!! The world is more dangerous and police are more “ready” to protect themselves from possible threats of violence. It’s not like I’m a criminal, just thinking about how I can protect myself if I had an encounter with police. Thus the scenario of being pulled over. It’s a mad crazy world. What would YOU do???

  28. The other PC says:

Pardon me, I haven’t played pool for a while, but couldn’t the shooting end of a pole pretty sharp? Especially if a subject was intending to do harm with it? Or how about a blow to the temple with the handle end? Sounds like a weapon to me, unless the cop had on a helmet and neck armor.

  29. Chris says:

    @Soaper
You can turn pretty much anything into a deadly weapon. It’s all about context. Also, he was not shot by a “team of cops”. He was shot by one officer, others were busy detaining the mom who sounds like a real winner herself, my parents would have had no problem handing me over to the police if they came for me (assuming I was staying at their house still, I haven’t lived there since I was 19 which was 8 years ago).

It’s very likely that drugs were involved as well (factors that make me say this are the location [sorry, sad but true], the crime, the fact that he ran to hide at his parents house and/or lived there at age 26, the way his mom responded to the police, and the fact that he was unfased by the taser).

  30. Thinking Outloud says:

@ Dirty Cop Enforcer….I bet even you get tired of yourself.

It’s so easy for others to sit back and say what they would or wouldn’t do in this type of situation–when it isn’t them.

  31. Bill S says:

On of the consequences of the 3 strikes law. These guys have nothing to lose as they are going away for life. They are much more likely to resist arrest with deadly force.

  32. The Dirty Cop Enforcer Has been right this whole time about the Cops. It is only going to get worse people!

  33. Peter_Newnan Escrow says:

Wow, cops are so scared. If someone intended to scare the local cops shitless at the possiblity of doing real police work, it worked.

Now we have a bunch of terrified individuals with guns willing to shoot and kill at the sound of a fart.

  34. kurt wetzold says:

A police officer may use force when he or someone else is in immediate fear of death or serious bodily injury. I am guessing that you were not present. To make the statement you made is reckless and irresponsible. As of today 101 police officers have died in the line of duty this year. Your dismisive comment about this being an example of excessive force is indicative of a community that is ignorant to use of force policies and laws. Before you accuse a police officer of murder, perhaps you should lay on the ground and have a determined aggressor prepare to strike you in the head with a pool cue…yell out when you would like the police officer to intervene to perhaps spare your life or at the least keep you from being hurt….so that you can continue to spout offensive and damaging comments.

  35. Joe says:

A pool cue getting swung at an officers head when he is on his back…..not just a pool cue, a weapon.

  36. Soaper says:

So I read the deadly weapon was a pool cue? Come on. I’m all for this guy getting in trouble because stealing isn’t right, but a team of cops had to shoot him in the chest because he had a pool cue?!? Wow! Thank god he didn’t have a baseball bat or they would’ve had to nuke the area.

I’d say this is an example of excessive force…but whats new. A sad situation, but I guess the guy shouldn’t have been out stealing.
