Sharyn’s Sirens: Daily police and fire roundup

MORE EQUIPMENT DAMAGED AS CENTRALIA BUSINESS VISITED AGAIN BY WIRE THIEVES

• The damage this time is in the neighborhood of $20,000 as thieves struck again at Lakeside Industries in Centralia. An officer called about 11:45 a.m. yesterday to the 2000 block of Johnson Road learned someone cut wiring from numerous pieces of industrial equipment at the business, according to Officer Angie Humphrey. In this case, they may have been spooked because two large rolls of wire were set aside as though ready to be loaded up but were left, Humphrey said. The officer asks anyone with any information about the thefts to call 911 or Lewis County Crime Stoppers.

NOT A HATE CRIME

• Chehalis police were called around noon yesterday by a man with a complaint someone outside Safeway was displaying a political sign showing a picture of Barack Obama with a Hitler mustache. Not a crime, according to Chehalis police. “Basically the officer told him it was freedom of speech,” Sgt. Brian Hickey said.

CHEHALIS HOME BURGLARIZED

• Someone broke into a Chehalis home and stole three televisions, three laptops, three other computers, cell phones and a security safe. An officer called 5:15 p.m. yesterday to the residence on the 300 block of James Street noted a door may have been kicked in and a window was broken, according to the Chehalis Police Department. It seemed to have occurred over the weekend, according to Sgt. Brian Hickey.

PRESCRIPTION DRUGS PILFERED

• An officer took a report about 8:30 a.m. yesterday regarding pills missing from various bottles of prescription medications at a home on the 1000 block of F Street in Centralia. Among the pilfered drugs were morphine, Oxycontin and Lorazepam,  according to the Centralia Police Department.

VANDALISM

• Centralia police were called around 12:20 p.m. yesterday to the 2600 block of Eureka Avenue about damage to the gas line on a vehicle.

• The sheriff’s office is looking for information about someone spray painting graffiti at Onalaska school’s baseball field dugouts over the weekend. Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said this morning the vandalism was reported on Sunday and must have happened sometime after 6 p.m. on Friday. The damage will cost $500, according to Brown.

DISORDERLY MAN TAKEN AWAY BY POLICE

• Centralia police called to a convenience store on the 1200 block of Mellen Street for reports of a man “freaking out, running around and being weird” discovered the subject sitting in the driver’s seat of a stranger’s car about 2:15 p.m. yesterday. Michael Stedham, 23, was allegedly uncooperative with officers who tried to detain him. The Centralia resident was arrested for obstructing and vehicle prowl and was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

NOT JUST A FIRE DRILL

• Children were evacuated from Centralia’s Oakview Elementary School about 11 o’clock yesterday morning and fire department summoned. “It wasn’t actually a fire but smoke from an overheated laminating machine,” Riverside Fire Authority Capt. Erik Olson said.

  1. Yeah Semper Fi I take alot lot of shit from the community. People like me always get attacked for standing out. All of this hate towards me is the lack of people’s information about me. In my heart I know what I am doing is right. Exposing corruption is my mission. As the weeks go by I will be uploading alot more corruption and lack of accountability video’s….

  2. Semper Fi says:

Just so you know DCE, you are my inspiration here at this website.

You voice is the clear voice of reason among a din of cacophanous noise. I don’t think I would have felt as confident speaking up and out to those who would have us living in ignrance if I hadn’t seen so many of your posts.

Every time you made comments, it was attacked both personally and in general terms like a nerdy kid being picked on by a pack of bullies in the school yard.

But, each time you got back up and put forth your same message about true justice, fairness, and equality.

Man, I wish there were more people like you in the world. I just want to say thanks. And keep up the good works. Just remember that for every 10 people that emasculate you and tell you that being assaulted was “your fault”, there is one person who is finding the strength within themselves to help you fight and to fight back for themselves.

    Peace dawg.

  3. I think the baking soda blaster has a conversion attachment. You would use a sand blaster hopper to hold the baking soda and use compressed air. Graffeti is now gone. All non toxic… Another helpful thought is to Add a Free Wall in Centralia so local spray painters can show off their work! That’s how the big citys do it.

  4. Semper Fi says:

“Plus just wait till the environmental police find out that the city drains are getting filled with baking soda ”

From a purely scientific standpoint. When I was at C.C., we tested the water from China creek for our Env. Studies class with Mr. Martin and we found that it was several hundred points above acidity norms.

I think baking soda, if it was water soluble would actually return the local creeks to normal acidity, thus paving the way for the return of spawning salmon and migrating trout.

  5. The Other PC says:

Thanks DCE, but I don’t know how the city of Centralia’s investment could benefit Onalaska, unless they shared it. And I can’t imagine that happening.

Plus just wait till the environmental police find out that the city drains are getting filled with baking soda (I wish that I had italics on here!) just to combat graffiti. Oh the horror – almost as bad as Seattle and salt for snow!

Otherwise, thanks for the info on the baking soda blaster. Another thought – find the punks responsible and give them toothbrushes and baking soda? Or would that be infringing on their rights? And if they can’t find them – I still don’t understand the $500 bill. There are always volunteers around to paint the baseball fields (just don’t ask them to rake the grass!).

  6. The Other Pc the answer for the City is called a Soda Blaster. It is non toxic and uses baking soda as an abrasive to remove Grafetti. when used properly the spray paint can be removed with out harming the original surface. The City of Centralia should invest in one…. It would be a great tool to fight the grafetti problem…. Just a thought.. Oh ya Soaper who ever you are? Thanks for watching my video’s

  7. Free Air says:

Part of the scrap metal problem, is that they hoard up a full load of metal in a van or trailer, then make a run to Oregon or Idaho. Other parts are destroyed to the point where the original shape is gone so it can’t be identified clearly.

If more local businesses were willing to hire drug addicts and not require them to work regular hours or produce a product this sort of crime would be significantly less…

  8. Soaper says:

I also find it humorous when I see panhandlers with signs that say “Obama Gave Me This Job.” Yes, as I am sure those same people were really prospering under Bush.

  9. Soaper says:

I have nothing against Obama, but comparing him to Hitler is unfair. Hitler inherited a complete mess much like Obama, however in 5 years Hitler reduced unemployment from 5.6 million in 1933 to 400,000 by ’38. Unemployment fell 96%. Also, he stripped the banks of much of their power (which I see as a positive).

  10. Freedom of Speech. Great job waking up the community. I’m glad to see other people in the Community making a difference. If we could just wake up alot more people in the community we could make a real change……….Obama passed the NDAA act, this act is treson and he deserves to be impeached and punished for his crimes against society…..

  11. Semper Fi says:

“either that, or some of these industrial places just have really crappy security…”

I think you might be onto something here. I’m sure it’s more lucrative to file an insurance claim rather than stopping theft.

  12. The other PC says:

Does it really cost $500 to paint over graffiti??? Even with a $100 bucket of paint (that would cover a house), two rollers and brushes, and two employee’s wages, I can’t see it costing $500! No wonder the schools are broke!

  13. George says:

So, concerning the meth-heads who are going around busting into these industrial places and stealing all the wire (you seem to hear about it every day!), for them to get any money from it, they would have to take it to a recycling place… are the recycling places just taking it, or are they calling the cops and letting them know that someone just brought in XXX feet of brand new wire (or something along those lines… follow me?)?

It seems as though the “recycling” places are just helping out the meth-heads in the movement of stolen goods… either that, or some of these industrial places just have really crappy security…
