Read about Lewis County won’t lighten up on lighting up pot …

By Sharyn  L. Decker
Lewis County Sirens news reporter

Kirotv.com reports that Lewis County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer says if anyone is arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana before Dec. 6 when the law changes, he will prosecute them.

When Initiative 502 takes effect, it will be legal under state law for individuals 21 or older to possess as much as one ounce of marijuana. However, there is nowhere to legally purchase it and it remains banned under federal law.

KIRO news reporter Richard Thompson writes when Meyer was asked about decisions by other prosecutors who say it’s a waste of resources, Meyer told him he “will never let a budget issue stand in the way of prosecuting a crime.”

Occasional Troller MMJ patients will still be alloowed to grow. This did not change I-692 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnFJYxCx7zk&feature=related

  2. Occasional Troller says:

Oh uninformed citizens…has the THC already done its damage? You have screwed yourself by voting this into law. All you have done is given the state the control over the dispensaries, prescription grows, all of it! You no longer can grow your own, sell your own, do anything other than possess it. Where do you buy it? Only the state knows, and they’re not saying! LMAO You were dumb enough to vote it in, you deal with it! HAHAHAHAH

  3. The Dirty Cop Enforcer says:

NWA if I do get a dime from all this I will put it back into the community where it belongs!

  4. nwa says:

DCE I agree. You will be so rich someday after you sue the police. Hows all your other law suits worked out for so far. Your so lucky and your going to be so rich when you stop all the bad police.

  5. The Dirty Cop Enforcer says:

Public Warning the Centralia Police Violated State Laws when they raided Hub City Natural Medicine It is against the law to tamper with a Prescription or manufacture a Prescription, this is known as entrapment. Check out this video made by the accused.

    Dear Mr. Meyer,

It is one thing to come out in opposition against rag-tag groups of gang-members, mafiosi, and other unwanted felons. But, it’s another thing entirely to against The People of Washington State.

Sure, you can hang your laurels on the fact that Lewis County consistently votes against it’s best interests, but is that how you plan to win re-election, by relying on the ignorance of your supporters?

Good luck with your anti-cannabis agenda here in Washington State. It would be one thing if you were in Texas, Florida, or some other Repug-controlled district, but you’re in Washinton. You’re working in the armpit of the state. We can smell you from Olympia.

  7. I must inform the public about the public defenders office, they have been convicting people for expired MMJ cards. The fact is there is case law that will get your case dismissed. The Public Pretenders office just recently allowed a woman that had 11 ounces on her possesion to be convicted for having an expired card. The person could have defended herself with this case law here. http://caselaw.findlaw.com/wa-court-of-appeals/1285581.html If your card is expired and you are caught with marijuana you can go get your card renewed and the state will have to dissmiss when you use the link I provided above. I know what I’m talking about. DCE

  8. Guilty Bystander says:

As long as the Feds maintain that marijuana is an illegal substance in any form, they’ll be seeking to override state and local laws that legalize it no matter what voters say. Whether any of us as individuals or collectively are for it or against something doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things if it doesn’t fly in D.C.

  9. OldLongJohnson says:

Oh, and F%$K Meyer and all who support his anti-american democratic agenda!!!

He obviously is operating under a personal impetus rather than a public one. Shame on him. Recall the prosecutor and demand an immediate successor!!

Meyer is in no way fit to represent the will of Washington, what makes him think he can represent Lewis County and remain relative and copacetic?

  10. OldLongJohnson says:

    Two words:

    Jury Nullification

  11. What gets me is the Hypocrite’s. Word is around the camp fire is that Mr. Meyer Tokes the Ganja also. I’m mean look at him, he is the Poster Boy for the Munchies. It’s OK Mr. Meyer you can free the weed it’s harmless, get over it. Long Live Cannabis!

  12. Stupid decision by Meyer. says:

Let’s see, there are 73 cases pending. How about jury trials for each one, and let’s see if the juries are willing to convict?

  13. sunshinegirl says:

    Trying not to laugh.

  14. Try being in my shoes I expose dirty cops so they just made up some fake marijuana charges against me…. We need to stand up as a Community and show up in numbers inside these Kangaroo Court Rooms of Injustice……I’m doing my part what are you doing?

  15. Bill S says:

Meyer is a big fat idiot. Somebody had to say it.

  16. take no more says:

    Oh brother!

  17. sunshinegirl says:

    OLJ , I heartily agree

  18. WendyC says:

You cannot buy it legally…unless you have a medical marijuana card.

It is smart to enforce the law until it takes effect…as we speak, the feds may be preparing to slap a lawsuit against Washington State and Colorado, as pot is still illegal on a federal level. I’d hate to lose all our federal funding just for the “right” to be a doper!

  19. cargirl says:

He’s just wasting tax payers money! and making himself look good for the Good O’l Boys in this county!

  20. MorningCoffee says:

@Heather – again, expressing the simplicity of application of the current laws and privileges. Where o’ where have you been. We’ve needed you. Good job.

  21. OldLongJohnson says:

Just sensationalism. Meyer is getting his little moment in the spotlight. As soon as Dec. 6th rolls around, he’ll have to find another excuse to stir shit up.

  22. Heather says:

That’s why you get your green card grow your own or go to a dispeserary

  23. Jake Voie says:

I’ll definitly be smoking marijuana. but where can I buy it legally.?
