The Centralia man is charged with homicide by abuse and other related offenses regarding the May death of his live-in girlfriend’s toddler. Prosecutors allege Reeder tortured and raped the child.

Attorneys in the case told a judge they were postponing the review until Dec. 13. The trial in Lewis County Superior Court is still on the schedule for the end of January.

Reeder remains held in the Lewis County Jail on $5 million bail.

The criminal justice system does move slowly and plods along. If the defense is not given sufficient time to prepare for trial there could be an appeal. Unfortunately no amount of prison time can bring back this beautiful, special child.

  2. Disgusted says:

I agree that the mother is equally to blame. Her punishment is now living every day with the knowledge that she could have prevented her innocent baby from being raped and killed by a monster, but for whatever stupid and selfish reasons, she failed to do so. If she is even partially human, the guilt will eat her alive. She should never be allowed to raise another child.

If he walks, the jury and judge in the case will have to go into hiding.

What do you mean if he walks? There is a chance he is going to get off?

AMEN Silent. Amen ,I’ve been saying all along that the Mom is, if not complicit , then a least partly to blame , how could she not be ? I hope to God she has no custody of any other poor innocent. It always amazes me what women will do to have a man around. The kids are always the first to be sacrificed . I see it all the time, big ole nasty welfare Moms with some tweeker living off their checks and food stamps, and the poor children are the icing on the cake. I have done volunteer work at the school and you see the effects of this. Oh well she’ll just have more kids.

James Reeder is a piece of crap! Why is it taking such a long time to put him where he belongs? This makes me sad and angry every time I hear his name. When will justice be served. And why no charges against the mom? I would think failure to protect fits the bill for sure. Good ol Lewis County at its finest. If he walks, I’d bet he won’t be for very long. This case has affected many people, and is one of the worst cases of abuse I have ever been subjected to through media in our community. It’s absurd to think that he may get away with what he did, and that mom just gets to go Scott free. It’s just not right! Makes me sick!!! I hope that this will be over soon!! One way or another he will get what’s coming to him!
