Read about guidelines for cannabis consumption …

The Olympian yesterday published a Q and A about the changing rules regarding marijuana, answering questions such as what will happen if one lights up a joint in public.

News reporter Rob Carson reminds readers the law that went into effect yesterday provides for no legal place to get weed, since nobody can legally grow it, sell it or even give it away – notwithstanding the unchanged rules regarding medical marijuana  patients.

Lewis County law enforcement agencies have not formally announced changes in the way they will handle the now-allowed possession by those 21 or older of an ounce or less of pot.

However, one Centralia resident found out for sure yesterday that their marijuana bong is no longer a prohibited item. When a pair of the special pipes were reported stolen and then recovered, police returned them to their owner.

Centralia Police Department Sgt. Kurt Reichert said a marijuana pipe would only be considered illegal drug paraphernalia in the hands of someone younger than 21.

The Washington State Patrol has noted troopers always arrest impaired drivers, regardless of the drug involved whether legal, illegal or even prescribed.

And the feds on the eve of yesterday’s change of state law reminds the public it remains illegal to bring any amount of marijuana onto federal property, such as National Forests and Parks.

  2. I went to the Lewis county sheriff’s office and I could not get a straight answer, I wanted to know if I could drive with my Marijuana Ounce on the Dash board? or how could travel with it. The sheriff clerk told me I just couldn’t smoke and drive, like we didn’t already know that. Then I went to the Lewis county Prosecutor and asked them. They told me they couldn’t give out legal advice. What did you do to make a difference in the Community when it comes to the Marijuana laws? Oh thats right Nothing!

someone better send some officers out to the schools then….perhaps then teenager(s) won’t be knocking on my door asking me for “papers” in the dead of night. . . or maybe a sign in my window that states ” the occupant does NOT support your choice of self-abuse—do NOT bother occupant” would be sufficient

BONG BONG BONG! Big Freakin’ deal. And they do that because it is illegal to sell paraphernalia as it once was to possess with fear of being shut down or fined. Its illegal to sell meth pipes too and they do anyway behind the counter and some places in the cases. That should bother u a little more then someone reefering to a waterpipe as a bong.

  6. This article is so wrong. MMJ Patients can Grow Cannabis, this has not changed the Law for MMJ patients. MMJ shall Fear not from this new law.. I-692, SB 6032

I wish that the writers of these news articles would stop using the term “bong”. They are called water pipes. Most places that sell these devices state that if you refer to them by any other name or for any other use than tobacco will be asked to leave the premises term with no sale.
