CEMETERY VANDALISM

• Centralia police are investigating a report of graffiti on a tombstone at Greenwood Cemetery on Van Wormer Street. Officer Corey Butcher said it appeared it was originally painted bright green and someone spray painted on top of it, “White paint dummy.”

VACANT HOUSE BREAK-IN

• Police were called about 10:20 a.m. yesterday to the 1500 block of Sunset Way in Centralia where a vacant home being remodeled was broken into. Someone kicked in the back door, according to the Centralia Police Department. It wasn’t immediately clear if anything was missing, according to police.

WALLET STOLEN

• An individual who left his backpack on a curb at the 600 block of Centralia College Boulevard while he went for a run yesterday afternoon  returned to discover his wallet was missing, according to Centralia police.

NURSE ARRESTED FOR THEFT FROM PATIENTS

• Kirotv.com reports a search of the Tenino home of a nursing assistant turned up jewelry including rings she allegedly stole off the fingers of Alzheimer’s patients at her workplace. Richard Thompson writes that Kerrina Koch, 41, was arrested for first-degree theft and has been fired from the Olympia facility.

    What was that jogger thinking when he left his backpack on the curb when he went for a run? This isn’t Japan, where nobody would’ve touched it. He’s lucky he only lost his wallet.
