KID PORN ARREST
• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reports a 33-year-old Toledo area resident was arrested for possession of child pornography. Sgt. Rob Snaza said this morning a deputy responded on Friday evening to the 200 block of Boone Road where a woman had said she suspected Henry R. Holsinger had such material, the sheriff’s office got a search warrant for a computer leading to Holsinger’s arrest. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail on Friday, according to the sheriff’s office. Snaza said the images apparently were circulating on the Internet.
GRAND MOUND ROBBERY SUSPECT LOCATED
• A 20-year-old Montesano woman was arrested today for the robbery last week of a clerk at the AM/PM store in Grand Mound. Deputies responding on Wednesday night to the store on the corner of U.S. Highway 12 and Old Highway 99 were told the pony-tailed female with a multi-colored scarf over her face told the clerk to hand over cash or be shot. Sheena Gillham was booked into the Thurston County Jail today for first-degree robbery, according to Thurston County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Ken Clark.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning someone broke into a home on the 800 block of Highway 603 west of Chehalis and stole more than $2,500 worth of jewelry sometime between 1:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Friday. A police dog was called after deputies responded about 9 p.m., but the case remains under investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.
• About $80 in loose change was reported missing from a home on the 2500 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy contacted on Friday was told the burglary happened sometime between Nov. 22 and Nov. 25, Sgt. Rob Snaza reported this morning.
BARN THEFT
• A deputy was called on Saturday to the 800 block of Jackson Highway South near Toledo regarding a theft from a barn. Among the scrap metal missing sometime from the night before was a transmission from a 1939 Chevrolet pickup truck and as much as 60 feet of aluminum wire, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
VEHICLE PROWL
• Centralia police were called about 9 a.m. yesterday regarding a chainsaw missing from a trailer at the 800 block of South Tower Avenue.
• Chehalis police responded about 4 p.m. on Friday after a woman at the Lewis County Mall discovered a stranger sitting in her car rifling through the glove compartment. The victim said she had parked outside the Sears package pickup are and was only going in for a moment and when she returned, the dark-haired man wearing a knit beanie cap was in her driver’s seat, according to the Chehalis Police Department. He reportedly casually got out and walked towards Yard Birds, police said. The man was not located and the only item missing was an insurance card, Officer Linda Bailey said.
CHIMNEY FIRES
• Firefighters were called to chimney fires today on N Street in Centralia and on the 100 block of Centralia-Alpha Road southeast of Centralia. Neither turned out bad but the incidents follow an early Sunday morning blaze in which a family of five south of Napavine lost their house and everything inside it when a fire started next to a chimney. The cause of that fire is under investigation, but it prompted a fire investigator to emphasize just how important it is to make sure chimneys are in good working condition and cleaned regularly. In both of today’s incidents, it took just a little bit of spray or steam to finish putting out the fires inside the fireplaces.
COLLISIONS
• A 25-year-old pedestrian was struck by a vehicle about 8:15 p.m. yesterday at West Plum and South Pearl streets in Centralia but the injuries were such the man was treated at the hospital and then subsequently booked into the Lewis County Jail, Centralia police reported this morning. Arriving officers discovered Daniel J. Alvarado was wanted on a warrant, and found he was in possession of suspected methamphetamine, according to the Centralia Police Department.
• Two women were hospitalized after one of them lost control on the ice and crossed into the oncoming lane on U.S. Highway 12 about seven miles west of Morton today. Troopers called about 10:10 a.m. report that Bambi L. Church, 36, of Silver Creek, and Amanda A. Meekhof, 50, of Packwood, were both transported to Morton General Hospital. Church’s Dodge Dakota pickup and Meekhof’s Toyota Rav4 were both towed from the scene, according to the Washington State Patrol. Church was cited for going too fast for conditions, according to the state patrol.
