Sharyn’s Sirens: Daily police and fire roundup

UNDERAGE DRIVER WRECKS TRUCK

• The sheriff’s office says a pair of teenagers driving around smashing mailboxes with a baseball bat wrecked their truck last night, and the 15-year-old behind the wheel didn’t have a license. Deputies called about 7:30 p.m. to the 700 block of Pleasant Valley Road learned the boys were southbound when they struck a ditch, then a pole, then another ditch, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The 1994 Chevrolet pickup was totaled, Sgt. Rob Snaza said. It belonged to the 16-year-old passenger, according to Snaza. As many as five mailboxes on Haywire and Pleasant Valley Roads were damaged. The case is being referred to juvenile prosecutors for charging decisions, according to the sheriff’s office.

FROM THE COURTHOUSE

• A 42-year-old Toledo woman will return to court next Thursday to make her plea in a public assistance fraud case. Kelly M. Hanson is alleged to have given false information to the state and collected $5,419 more in food assistance than she qualified for for the 13 months that ended in April 2012 but was just charged last month and summonsed to appear in court this week, according to court documents. A judge on Tuesday afternoon allowed her to remain free on a $5,000 signature bond pending trial. According to charging documents, Hanson collected medical and food benefits for herself and three children and authorities got suspicious in late 2011 the father was residing with them as well. Investigators learned Ty Hanson – her husband, and the children’s father – opened a construction business listing the same address where his wife reported living, but she didn’t report to DSHS he was a member of the household, or any household income beyond  $1,000 a month in child support, according to the allegations. Kelli Hanson terminated her food and medical benefits in March 2012, but an investigation was already underway, the documents show. The state computed what they believed was an overpayment to her by looking at his gross revenue filed with the state Department of Revenue. Kelli Hanson is charged with first-degree theft of public assistance, a felony with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and also charged with false public assistance verification, a felony with a maximum penalty of 10 years.

AND MORE

• And as usual, other incidents such as arrests for warrants, driving with suspended license; responses for alarm, collision on city street, violation of protection order, inquiry on child custody dispute … and more.

As toxic as Disgusted’s post is, they’re correct. My sister was on public assistance for many years, three kids by three different men, all staggered in ages so that she could live off the government for twenty years. She has never worked a day in her life. This is how it is in Lewis County, pop out a baby and the government will take care of you. If it weren’t for public assistance, the Lewis County economy would collapse overnight, banks would close, stores would be boarded up, followed by gas stations, wal mart, grocery stores, etc, all of Centralia-Chehalis would become a ghost town except for the retired people who moved down from seattle, bought homes, and live on their savings. Now my sister is 55 years old, her kids are grown and gone, she has exactly zero skills and experience besides sitting on her fat ass all day long, a perfectly able-bodied woman coasting into retirement, living the next 20-30 years off the government until she dies at Riverside.

Disgusted knows intimate details of a family…. got to wonder if the “D” stands for … I live next door, but spend most of my time spying on the neighbors.

So – sounds like some of the folks in that family are very low IQ… stupid, in your words. Low IQ might qualify someone for disability.

Being a “Crazy Freak” who is out of control, sounds like Mental Illness… again, a legitimate condition.

Rather than find personal faults in them that YOU don’t have and can therefore judge, why not advocate for a Payee for those folks. Report the drug use about which you are so certain to the authorities and demand they find a way to ensure the children are properly fed and cared for… and keep complaining.

I see nothing wrong with a Payee managing the funds so that lights, heat, food and other basics are taken care of. All those other things you listed are mostly not going to change, not with the money or without.

Disgusted. I’ve seen people milk the system as well, but does that mean LEGITIMATE, educated people who HAVE worked in the past should be denied benefits when truly needed?? How is one supposed to know the difference? People like that make me disgusted too. It gives a bad name to people who aren’t duping the system and abusing drugs, scraping up whatever “excuses” they can to keep milking the system. It’s also disheartening that single moms with kids working a minimum wage job cannot get help! The system is severely flawed. They should do random UA’s on welfare recipients. SSI and SSD are NOT welfare programs. They are social security, totally different place the benefits are received from, and most people on these programs that are above fourty did not have to go through the extensive process that you do today to get those benefits. True that people are abusing this system too, but there are many people out there that are not! It makes me sick that people CHOOSE to always look at the people who are abusing the system, rather than the people who DO deserve those benefits and help with extensive medical care. It puts a bad name on all the people receiving benefits. How do you think that makes them feel? Outraged at being labeled as lazy, uneducated, incompetent asses? Embarrassed because they receive benefits and are ashamed because of the public stigma towards anyone on these programs? Grateful because they are getting the help they need? Labels and judgement are abundant about “bad” people abusing the system. This labeling and judgment carries on to truthful people, who are not abusing the system. When does that public outrage stop? When are people going to be seen for who they are, not how they make thier money, or where it comes from? When are these people going to buy something with thier supplemental food stamps and not be judged as welfare whores, just because they have food stamps. Seriously, I agree about people abusing the system. But I don’t condone throwing every single recipient of these programs into the bad apple basket! People look down thier noses at them, and it is cruel……stop the bull…..quit judging….maybe that may be you, or ANY one of the people looking down on everyone on these programs someday (receiving benefits because you truly need them)……just some food for thought to those who sit in judgment of all, and not just the few who are stigmatizing the whole bunch! It’s degrading………………..:(

We probably all have stories of how we’ve seen people game the system, Disgusted, and it isn’t limited to lazy Lewis County hillbilly mothers.

One of my best friends from school grew up in a nice Bellevue neighborhood with good parents had college degrees and well-paying jobs. He lacked for nothing, and eventually was making $1K a week at a union job for Boeing that didn’t require a lot of skills. He learned how to game the system from one of his co-workers and eventually “gamed” his way out of his job and onto the SSI, Medicaid and EBT rolls.

This is still a country where it’s possible to be productive, live comfortably and even become rich. But the lack of desire we see in so many people happens throughout every demographic because it now pays to be NON-productive…there’s less incentive to reach our potential because there’s rarely a sense of urgency attached to it.

  5. Disgusted says:

People do what this Kelly Hanson broad did ALL THE TIME. These fucking worthless welfare mothers are shitting out illegitimate kids by multiple baby daddies, living with one of them (or some random guy that didn’t father any of them), and not reporting the extra household income. Frankly, I don’t think DSHS does enough to catch and prosecute these bitches.

Years ago I knew a woman that had five kids, and of those five, there were two sets of identical twins. She had always been on welfare and milked the system HARD. She was a typical welfare hog and had no desire to ever get off her ass and work. Her last two kids were a pair of identical girls. The father worked full-time and lived in the home with them, but welfare hog lied to DSHS and said she didn’t know who the father of those girls was in order to receive maximum benefits. People like this really make me sick and there are more and more of them all the time.

What is even worse are these mothers that get their kids on SSI (disability) for ADHD or some similar bullshit “problem” and draw social security benefits. More and more people are doing this.

I know someone right now who is a perfect example of this. Let’s call her “B”. “B” has five kids by five different men. Her mother, who we’ll call “A” helped “B” get her oldest child (we’ll call her “C”) on SSI for “post traumatic stress” – because the home environment is obviously so horrendous. Actually, “A”, B” and “C” all have extremely low IQs. Both “B’ and “C” are physically assaultive to one another.

“C” gets angry and has tantrum like outbursts (she behaves like a two year old child) where she destroys things and attacks people. “C” smokes pot, drinks alcohol, starts fights, lies, steals, but then, so does her mother “B” – who has been in prison a few times. “C” has been held back a least two grades in school. Partly because “C” is just a dumb girl and partly because of her home issues. A stable home environment when she was growing up MIGHT have made a difference, but it’s no excuse. Lots of people grow up in messed up homes and can still control their impulses and behave like a human being.

Anyway, I once overheard “B” on the phone telling someone that she receives around $2000 in cash benefits a month. “B” is a known drug addict – so most of this $2000 supports her meth habit, along with the drugs she deals to others for extra income. “B” and her kids live off whatever is left of these benefits after she buys her dope, along with whatever welfare supplements it with – food stamps, reduced housing, free medical, etc. “B” uses the food bank a lot and shoplifts frequently. “B”‘s welfare caseworker once handed her a state job on a silver platter, trying to get her off the system. “B” quit after a few days because, as she put it, “working just isn’t for me.”

Somehow “B”s mother “A” managed to get on disability too. When her kids were younger, she had her son on SSI for ADHD. When he would come up for review of his case she would take him off all of the drugs she had him on and feed him sugar and junk food and coach him about how to act and what to say because she didn’t want to lose he benefits and possibly have to work. Besides being stupid (literally) and lazy there is nothing wrong with “A”, but she is a good enough actress to get herself approved for SSI. As soon as she lost the benefits because her son (who is now a drug dealer) turned 18, she started working on getting herself SSI.

So . . . “A” is on it at age 53, her daughter “B” receives it along with all of her illegitimate kids, who get dependent benefits, then there is “C” who receives full disability payments herself. Just for being an out-of-control freak.

Seeing the great examples set for her for “C” got pregnant and had a baby last year at 15 years of age. So now “C” is now getting disability, along with HER illegitimate baby who is receiving dependent benefits as well.

Wait! It gets better. The 16 year old father of “C”s baby is ALSO on disability for some unknown reason.

Maybe idiocy is a condition that now qualifies you for a lifetime vacation on the back’s of the taxpayers? Because “C” has lived in this environment around her lazy Lewis County hillbilly mother “B” and grandmother “A” for so long, she doesn’t even understand that there is anything wrong sponging off the government like slimy leeches, or that her entire family are a bunch of lowlife scumbags.

This is what our world is coming to. Generations of people that are conditioned to believe they are entitled to something more than they can earn by working for it. People who are willing to lie, steal, cheat and deceive to get something for nothing. I want off. I want a world where I get to be around people like myself who work hard for a living, pay my bills myself and live within my means and don’t believe anyone owes me a handout. I want the “A”s, “B”s, and “C”s of the world to be put on their own island together and allowed to lazy themselves to death. Good riddance!

How would it even be possible that the 15 year old had a license? And how would it be possible for the kid to own a truck at 16?

itonlyme has an idea that would likely make a bigger impression than that of BustyBabe. My guess is most folks here would prefer whipping the boys rather than having them make restitution.

We should think about why her solution appears more attractive.

It’s time the age for juvenile consideration of charges was dropped from 18 to 14. These juveniles today are using the law KNOWING that they will only face minor consequences when they break the law. It is a fail experiment saying juveniles are basically good and innocent of the ability to plot and carry out crimes. The new lesson needs to be, do the crime, do serious time.
