Centralia police and their SWAT team served a search warrant looking for drugs yesterday afternoon at a house on the 800 block of South Pearl Street and arrested a resident for maintaining a building for drug purposes.

Rebecca J. Higgins, 41, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police. A second person was arrested for an unrelated felony warrant.

About a dozen officers descended on the home about 4:30 p.m., along with their armored rescue vehicle, according to police. Sgt. James Shannon.

The armored carrier is is used with all their SWAT operations, Shannon said, for an extra measure of safety because they never know who might be present. Shannon said there were about six people in the home, but described the events that unfolded as ordinary.

“We knocked on the door, asked them to come out and they did,” he said.

Detectives recovered a small amount of suspected methamphetamine during their search, according to Shannon.

Higgins was arrested for also for possession of meth and delivery of a controlled substance in a school zone, according to police. The delivery count is related to what police called a controlled buy conducted within the past week at the house, according to Shannon.

Higgins also has other controlled substance violations pending in Lewis County Superior Court.

This particular house neighbors homes of several small children AND is in a school zone. This activity has gone on for YEARS in this house. Several arrests have occurred and children have been present in that house. Think about that for a minute. People smoking meth with small (I mean under 3) in the room. Mom in handcuffs on the porch and babies crying and crawling on her. This has happened here. There have been reckless vehicles drive from this house through lawns of neighbors where their children play. Babies have been crying in cars outside this house while parents argue with dealers at 3 in the morning. Kids are being put in dangerous situations because of the dealer and the addicts that frequent this place. Taxpayer money well spent IMO. THIS time there was a small amount of drugs, but that is not the norm in that place. Wake up people…this community is ill and any arrests and money spent to remove dealers is good.

To miss sunshinegirl…I’m bitchin nd I sure in the hell work 40 hours a week nd I don’t want my tax money bein wasted on stupid ass shit like this, when for one centralia fuckin PD didn’t even find shit in the house nd second only one person got arrested cuz the other one was a snitch. There are bigger drug dealers out there but they think that they should raid the same house 50 millions times instead of moving to bigger people that actually deserve to go to prison for 10+ years so ya I am gonna bitch bout this cuz centralia PD ain’t shit nd never will be shit nd juss cuz we don’t spell shit right don’t mean a damn thing! Nd you never know who is a drug user or a dealer, for all you know your family or someone your close to could be one…come on now

Lil John, a.k.a John McNeil Junior. Your fate is still in the air and could result in freedom or 10 years in the pokey. You know better than anyone that the stories that aren’t printed, are bigger than you can fathom and will be published eventually. Meth dealers are a dime a dozen but addicts are even more common. The cops will never stop the war on drugs locally but I guarantee that they can make good tax paying citizens happy to see riff raff in their neighborhood arrested and sent to prison. Instead of calling them cops, lets call them chemical dependency relocation specialists. to

John you got a big point! It’s juss so funny how centralia PD thinks their doin such a great job but yet they have informants that they let go nd they keep doin the same shit nd snitchin. Lmfao keep your head up aunt Becky!!! I love you, stay strong nd don’t give up!!!

Man , it sure is tough to be law enforcement in this county. You are damned if you do , and gee I don’t know damned if you do. Folks are breakin the law and cops are doing their jobs , and all you people do is bitch about it. I am a taxpayer and I work a 40 hour week so these are my tax dollars. I would be interested in how many of you doing the bitching actually pay taxs. I am sure the people who live in this neighborhood are happy to see these people go. Last year I lived in a apartment building where a couple lived and when she went to work he had the Meth Monkeys hangin there everyday. I’m sorry but I do not want to look at these people let alone have them three doors down. The rest of us complained to the Landlord and they were evicted. Am I sorry about that NO ?? Do you think I lack compassion ? Tough shit. I work everyday and these people do nothing , they get food stamps and free medical , and a check. They steal whatever is visible and they stink . So as far as I am concerned Lewis Co. law enforcement rocks , but then I have no warrants and no parole and no probation , what I do have though is spell check , ya’ll should check it out.

    Too much TV folks.
Drug raids are not a result of supposed amounts of drugs. Drug raids are a result of controlled buys or buyers thinking they got ripped off and cashing in on Crime Stoppers.
Warrants are issued for something they already did, and the arrests are also for something they already did, not in the act of doing.

Only on TV do the police kick in a door and find buckets of dope.

Well it sure seems like lately all these standard drug bust have been the same here and have a couple things in calmin 1 is they use quite a bit of tax payers money on these long investigations 2 they end up arresting a few small time drug attics and feel they got some huge drug pushers off the street and 3 is they end up breaking the law and munipulate it there self to confiscate about $100 worth of a suspected controlled substance in there last 3 raids becuase if you people havnt noticed becuase you cant count that one that they were so proud of out side chehalis cuz it was actully a thurston county bust with just the mandatory help of the Lc drug task force so if you dont count that in the last 18 months of investgations how much taxes were spent and much drugs were confiscated and how many people were actully arested becuase of there investigations and not just some fluke accident.

  9. meh says:

Bahls – so are you saying that it is normal or not? Cuz that’s pretty standard for Seattle, San Fran, Boston, etc….

  10. HEY says:

Meh brings up a valid point – how much taxpayer money was used to get a small amount of meth off the street? Seems like the L.C. police could be doing a better job of taking down bigger suppliers, and actually making a real dent in the area’s drug problem.

  11. meh says:

“recovered a small amount of suspected methamphetamine”

that’s it?? No weapons, no marine materials, no ninja swords, no tokin’ toddlers…..just a “small amount of SUSPECTED” meth? Two of the six had warrants?

Being within a school zone…. so even before pot was legal, was it okay to smoke, buy and sell it within a school zone too? I just wonder how many people are within school zones that are doing other illegal things…

A swat team for that? Yes, let’s get rid of druggies, but how much did this cost the taxpayers? How much drugs actually got off the street?

Dealing drugs in a quiet neighborhood is like a dude walkimg in a parade with his pants down on a cold day. Best wishes Ms. HIGGINS
