CHEHALIS – The new town marshal for Pe Ell was arrested overnight for driving drunk, in Pe Ell, in his patrol vehicle.

Marshal Anthony K. Corder’s blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit when he was processed at the Lewis County Jail, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

He was booked into the facility this morning, Sheriff Steve Mansfield said.

“He was very polite, very cooperative, upset that he put us in the position to have to do this,” Sheriff Mansfield said. “He didn’t give us any problems.”

Corder was hired recently by the mayor of the small West Lewis County town.

The 27-year-old just out of the military had no prior law enforcement experience and has not yet attended the training academy but did have police powers already, according to the sheriff’s office.

It happened about 2 o’clock this morning.

He apparently was not on duty, as he was wearing civilian clothes, according to the sheriff’s office.

But he was driving a fully marked police car, equipped with all his various police gear, including his duty weapon which the sheriff’s office confiscated, Mansfield said.

It came about because deputies were dispatched about 1:08 a.m., advised there was a possibly suicidal subject and it could be the marshal who might be intoxicated, according to the sheriff’s office.

When he was contacted however, there were no indications of him being suicidal, only that he’d been drinking, according to Mansfield.

The sheriff had no further details about that aspect, suggesting its possible the caller said something that was not true.

Mansfield gave the following account: A responding deputy spotted a car driving around town with its headlights off and when it pulled in front of a house, its driver got out and went inside. The deputy asked dispatch to have the marshal call him and then come outside which he did, Mansfield said.

Corder’s blood alcohol level was measured at .186 and .184, according to Mansfield.

“It’s very concerning,” Mansfield said. “Number one, I hope this young man gets some help, but until he gets his life straightened out or something, he doesn’t need to be working law enforcement in Lewis County or anywhere else.”

Chief Criminal Deputy Gene Seiber said the arrest occurred at the 500 block of North Main Street and that Corder is a Pe Ell resident, but it’s not clear whose home he was at.

He is the town’s only law enforcement officer.

The sheriff’s office will respond to emergency calls in Pe Ell, as they do in all the small towns when no one else is available, and then send the town a bill, according to Mansfield.

Oopsie. Looks like someone fell off the “Paranoia Wagon”; Again.

Were law enforcement personal just .001% as corrupt as you would say they are, No Cop would ever get arrested or held accountable for anything they did wrong. Three Lewis County Cops were arrested and held accountable for their actions regarding DUI arrests, while others continue doing their daily duties. Hard to beat a drum, or get on line donations off that headline.

been like this for decades? business as usual? Fire them all. Complacency is no excuse for criminal acts. How many DUi’s does the sherriffs office actully have in its history? 40-50? Shooting Fatalities? They seem to be increasing. Dont give me that bologna. Police cant even follow the laws. Hell half of them give contradictory versions of the same law. They dont know the law. They use intimidation to mis-quote excerpts from forced testimonys to invent crimes. Churning out ordinary citizens in to jail birds collecting money the whole way. The Prosecuting attorney and judge gives you some crappy public pretender like Arcuri. Why should we follow the law when law enforcement cant even keep up the standard. What bunch of conscious-less zombies.

please allow me to support my “fellow & former u.s. marine! demons experienced in military combat, out of our control! question we all have is , “can & why not this scenario promote community support , to help get this former soldier ,, who did fight for all our freedom of rights , yes he is younger , @ a “still learning age of minimal experiences, this adds to that ! perhaps the “MARINE “, may have been too proud to ask for help @ the regional veterans admin. clinic, emotions over lossed affection , stronger than a “matured adult ” cared to deal with , off duty? yes ! , lost the community’s trust , over a former relationship? yes ! all , character traits of ” A HUMAN BEING” , NOT A MACHINE ! , ., yes , feelings not made simple , without understanding emotion, feelings, personalities , due to not having the “psycologicl training experienced disciplins , as do mental health dr’s do, he does obviously need help , he should get it, perhaps starting a “non-armed security-guard -career of helping people , will satisfy his desire to help others , as most likely his “initial intent”, however , the sole responsibility of =(“marshaling”), an entire town of “638 residents , may have been over his capabilities , as would be “obvious , when he was the only brave sole “whom actually applied for the open positio of “community peace keeper & maintaining public order ” ! ” ! remember that, b4 u all pass judgements , throw the -1-st stone , if u all have no “guilt or vices /sin’s ” !

alaskan84 if you did report this you are a community hero, getting these armed thugs off the streets keeps our community safe. Calling 911 usually gets someone killed, just like this situation when a deaf woman called the police after being assaulted she was then attacked by the police http: //www .care2. com/causes/deaf-woman-tasered-jaile-by-police.html The facts are all over youtube, the police are at war with the American people.

You do realize that after one DUI arrest, you’ve jumped so far as to say this person is a War Criminal, an Addict and possibly suffering from Mental Illness.
That’s a pretty dang wide brush your painting with there. I’m sure thankful your not part of the Judicial System. You’ve got this guy tried, sentenced and serving time without any trial or chance to defend himself before the sun goes down.
Your just way to far right wing for my tasts.

In the meantime, it is okay to speed while going through Pe Ell. California stops are okay too.

  7. Make More Sense says:

Nothing’s going on with LC Law Enforcement. It’s business as usual. It’s been like this for decades.

  8. dontmatter says:

3 police shootings in the last 5 years, 3 Dui’s in the last year and half. Whats going on with Lewis County law enforcement?

  9. Ron Green says:

Looks like this man slipped through the cracks of the selection process for the job. Too bad, nothing good comes of this. Hopefully he can get the help he needs, he’s got a lot of life to live yet. War Crimes, yup gotta try a bring politics in there somewhere. Returning veterans from EVERY war have fought the same demons. We as a society owe our veterans way more than we can repay for what they are asked to do.

He is a grown man and made his decision. Cop or not, he deserves to be treated as any other citizen would for the same crime. The same jail time, fines, and other consequences. It is time that all police officers in all departments across this country be held accountable for their actions. They are people just like us, regardless of what clothes they wear to work.

I called this in. He was drunk dialing me all night for some unrelated drama, and told me he was going to shoot himself. I was worried about him. Although ive felt with his drunkenness, him threatening to kill himself, me, my family, my friends, burn my house and car and job- enough was enough. I heard him load his gun
I didn’t know he was in his patrol car… but im not sorry I called and asked them tocheck on him. I care about this man. He is my friend and a good man. He would have made a great marshall… but he needs help… more than just drinking. He needs to get help for the trauma he lived through in Afghanistan… that is why he drinks. Please dont condemn him. What he did was wrong. But he needs people to give him tough love and support… not wipe his ass for him. I hope hes ok.

It’s really embarrassing to say Mayor – he is a dictator ship! THE SO CALLED MAYOR has FULL control over our POLICE FORCES, do give the rest of the council credit. They are trying to change things, but you have to fight THE DICTATOR and his regime, or what’s left of it. Try living here in fear of retaliation from the “MAYOR” and his crew! The 27 yr old is a young man, he made a bad choice, he will have to live with for the rest of his life! The KUDOS go to the person who did everyone involved a favor, BEFORE it was to late!

  14. Lcrip says:

Whats the big deal here? He was just having some fun.

  15. Ridge says:

It’s a shame to see a man as young as he waste his new career on a DWI. But I am glad it was only him getting wasted. What if he had been drinking on duty as some have said, and he confronted some one and shots were fired. Somebody could be dead. Better to find this mans weakness now, than in a confrontation.

  16. OlyChris says:

“Mistake” makes it sound too much like he did it on accident. How about, “27 years old and to make such a horrible selfish decision that will affect the rest of his life, hopefully it teaches him a lesson and he is able to move on from it”.

  17. BobbyinLC says:

27 years old and to make a mistake that will affect the rest of your life like this. Sad

  18. beenthere says:

I dont drink, can I have the job?

  19. Darren Hall says:

Looks like the “Good ol’boy” system hadn’t taken Corder under it’s wing yet. He would have walked if so.

  20. Extenuating Circumstances says:

Way to go Pe Ell City council! Good to see the rigorous selection process and the critical thinking that manifest itself in spending $20,000 in grant money on a pre-fab gazebo to aid in attracting tourists – as opposed to say, partnering with some coastal communities in developing a website advertising the area as a gateway to Pacific coast beaches – is still in effect. HAZAAHH!!!

  21. Free Air says:

To have such an opportunity only to waist it on a DUI.
    That’s just sad.
Glad he got taken off the road before he hurt someone.
