Jasper Henderling-Warner

News reporter Shira Moskowitz writes that he was locked up on Sept. 19, on charges of heroin possession and felony third-degree assault of a police officer at the Woodland Walmart, but posted $5,000 bail.

Wing, 26, and his wife Brenda A. Wing, 27, were arrested and charged Nov. 7 in Lewis County Superior Court as either the principal or accomplice with homicide by abuse or, in the alternative, first-degree manslaughter.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office says the couple had been caring for 3-year-old Jasper Henderling-Warner for a period of time described as several months, the mother asking them to be his guardians on July 31 because she was homeless.

The coroner concluded from healing fractures, numerous bruises and an autopsy Jasper died of chronic battered child syndrome, meaning ongoing physical abuse.

Charging documents describe a timeline and the child’s injuries, but offer no information about how he got his injuries. The doctor who conducted the autopsy concluded the injuries were weeks, not months old.

Danny Wing and Brenda Wing are being held on $500,00 bail and $200,000 bail respectively.

Their opportunities to make their pleas in court are scheduled for Dec. 4.

3 memorials????? Obviously she is dragging this out for profits as she received $5000 victim funding for burial etc. These people were NOT related !! She 2 “play dates” only! And did nothing to hunt him down! She was offered help to find him yet refused it for drugs… The real truth needs to come out – Definately the Wings got what they deserved and so happy for that !!! But the father is a meth addict , the mom – whatever she can do.. This boy had so many guys he called “daddy” I believe this has gone on prior to …..

@GuiltyBystander says: I do not consider myself “superior” and I apologize from confusing Cowlitz County from Lewis County. No, I do not live in Lewis County, even though I have worked there and have pretty deep roots there as my family pioneered there. Think Fort Borst . I also have a few relatives who were Lewis County Sheriff’s. I do apologize for “coming off” as acting superior. I was just upset that a three year old child can NEVER ever grow up and live the life that he was supposed to. I pray for his parents and relatives, may peace somehow come to you!

@L.C. resident says: I understand what you are saying and I wasn’t trying to self-righteous. People do going through tough times and they try to do their best when it comes to their children. I work for a law firm and I always–which I shouldn’t, assume that people go through the Court in regard to placement for their children. Which of course entails background checks, etc. I apologize, but feel for Jasper’s mother nonetheless. I pray for justice for him and her as well.

L.C. Resident, you are wrong about the withdrawl procedure for a Gofundme account. Here is a copy & paste from the Gofundme site along with a link.

    http://support.gofundme.com/entries/29545154-Can-I-withdraw-a-portion-of-my-funds-

Withdrawals will always process for the full available balance in your WePay account.

Once you request a bank withdrawal from WePay, automatic withdrawals will stay turned on in your WePay account. These withdrawals will always send you all donations received since the last withdrawal. You can change the frequency they go to your bank to daily, weekly or monthly by following these steps:

    1) Sign in to your WePay account here: http://www.wepay.com
    2) Click the ‘settings’ tab. Here’s a picture showing where that is: http://screencast.com/t/Ir9xDYkCNt
    3) Click on ‘Withdrawals’ on the left hand menu
    4) Click ‘Change’
    5) Select from the drop-down menu if you’d like daily, weekly or monthly
    6) Hit ‘Save

    And that’s it!

Darren: the only part of your post I’ll comment on is a technical matter. With gofundme and other sites, the funds raised aren’t released to the person until the expiration of its run. So for instance, if you set a fundraiser on it to run for 2 weeks, you only get the money once the two weeks is up, no matter how much or how little people actually contribute.

Without knowing further details, it’s entirely possible that she genuinely did not have gas money at that time, as if the campaign were still ongoing, she wouldn’t have received the funds yet. (As usual, this is not a commentary by me on the people involved, just explaining that detail.)

The more we hear the more sad this case gets. The only innocent one is dead.

  7. GoodGrief says:

Darren…. who gets to do the culling? You? Then what? Bullet to the head? And if you make a mistake in your choosing… then what? Would you then volunteer to be culled, perhaps?

Or are you just blowing smoke and REALLY don’t believe what you typed?

  8. Darren says:

ZERO sympathy should be given to Jaspers “mother” as there was an e – panhandling Gofundme page setup by for her that had raised over $800 within two days yet she couldn’t attend the court hearing as she had no gas…?? Great priorities from another druggie “mother”….

    BULLSH! T!!
She is just as guilty as the Wings!

  9. GuiltyBystander says:

Point of information, J.C. Danny Wing was released from the COWLITZ County Jail. I understand that there are lots of people on this website’s message boards such as yourself who smugly consider themselves “superior” to residents in Lewis County (good thing you don’t live here, eh?), but this is not the repository for all things evil.

  10. BleeBloo says:

When you read the statements these two people gave to the court, the kid seems doomed from the beginning: his transient mother dumped him at their house, and both people were drug users, and they had guests staying at their house who were also drug users. There is no mention of the boy’s father anywhere. All of this is in jarring juxtaposition to the smiling picture of the kid on some beach or river; someone cared enough about him to take his picture, and he was obviously happy on that day. My money would be on the man as the culprit, with the woman either participating or not doing anything to stop him.

  11. sunshine girl says:

I still want to know the same old question as always answered , WTF isn’t the Mom in jail???????????????????? I know sometimes family members help in times of need , but this county does NOT make sure that it is safe. I absolutely know that from personal experience , but no one took this child , she deliberately handed him over!! To people who killed him. Do ya think they did that for free?? Hell no, these kind of people immediately run to the nearest Welfare office and ask for help. Trust me I know that for sure too. So who dropped the ball here ? His so called Mother, and why is she not in custody? She says she has no time to seek justice for him , but she sure has time to try and solicit money and sympathy. I would not waste one penny for that piece of human filth.

  12. L.C. resident says:

J.C. – according to the past news stories, it was intended to be a temporary custody arrangement, to be for a maximum of a year long. Jasper’s mother is struggling to find work and is temporarily homeless, so she thought that having distant relatives care for Jasper would be better for him than keeping him with her. However, after the Wings took him, they started ducking her on the phone etc, dodging the agreed-upon visitations and so on, and she was still working out what to do about it (with no gas money to show up etc) when he was killed.

(I read the news stories; I do not know any of these people except from news report.)

  13. J.C. says:

Very sad–only three years old! Did they take parenting classes–NOT! Locked up for assault less than a month before the child’s death. ???? And then released on bail and returned to the family home. ???? Gee, go figure Lewis County; release a harmful felon back to his home and care for a toddler. ???? And then participate as the principal killer and/or accomplice in killing an innocent child. I know, innocent until proven guilty even though a child is now dead and never will have had the opportunity of going to kindergarten, graduating from high school, going to college, and possibly having a family. Just sayin’. The child would have been better off being raised by his mother who had previously consented to them having Third Party Custody–maybe it was temporary–not sure. I feel for Jasper’s mother and their family! May you rest in peace Jasper and I pray for JUSTICE for you as you got ripped off!

  14. Darren says:

I agree Ashley, people need to return to core values and the ones without any (such as the wing’s & Jaspers mother) need to be culled!

  15. ashley says:

WTF is wrong with people these days

  16. No mercy says:

Lock them up and throw away the key! Takes a very sick person to beat a child like that.
