Authorities: ‘Dumb’ bomb threat brings class B felony charge

CHEHALIS – Twenty-four-year-old Marcus T. Dantinne got to go home from jail yesterday evening, but he still faces a felony charge for allegedly threatening to blow up a Morton lumber mill.

Alta Forest Products was evacuated on Monday morning after an anonymous phone call that warned a bomb there would go off in 10 minutes. Within hours, police traced the call to Dantinne who reportedly took the phone apart so he wouldn’t be discovered.

Lewis County Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecutor Brad Meagher didn’t request very high bail for Dantinne, suggesting he’s not a terrorist, just somebody doing dumb and stupid stuff.

“It looks like he was helping somebody skip work,” Meagher said after a short bail hearing yesterday afternoon.

Lewis County Superior Court Judge Richard Brosey allowed Dantinne to be released from jail, on an unsecured $10,000 bond, co-signed by his mother, pending trial.

Dantinne lives with his mother in Morton.

According to charging documents, Dantinne told Police Chief Dan Mortensen at first that he’d lost the phone the previous night at the gym. But then he allegedly confessed: He wanted to get his friend Jordan Gillispie out of work, so they could hang out together.

The two had talked very early that morning, according to Dantinne’s mother who told the chief she overheard the call, charging documents state.

Some 60 workers were cleared out of the mill into its parking lot, following the approximately 7:45 a.m. call on Monday.

A bomb squad with the Washington State Patrol checked the property and found no explosive. Authorities evacuated Alta’s Shelton mill as well.

Employees were sent home for the day, although the swing shift was scheduled to start as usual, since a suspect was located by about noon.

Dantinne was charged with threat to bomb property, an offense with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, and/or a $20,000 fine.

Defense attorney Joely O’Rourke was in favor of the bail arrangement.

“He’s young, he’s 24 and has absolutely no criminal history,” O’Rourke said.

Dantinne has a stable residence, with his mother, and has been receiving supplemental social security income since he was young, she said. She understood from him it was related to mental health issues, she said.

“He’s clearly very inexperienced with the system,” O’Rourke said,.

Dantinne was appointed a lawyer, Shane O’Rourke, and is expected to return to court for his arraignment next Wednesday.

One more thing . . . Dipshit Dantine initially told the cops he lost his phone at the gym? Are you kidding? The guy can work out, but he can’t work? He has a cell phone and a gym membership? Tell me the system is not fucked up . . . and I’ll call you a liar. Get this bum off the rolls and make him get a job. Someone needs to direct the SSI fraud department to this site.

I feel bad for Jordan because this idiot jeopardized his job! But Busty Babe is right, Jordan, you need better friends. Cut this moron loose before he costs you more than a job. He will probably never pay you because losers like this, who never worked for what they have and expect everything to be handed to them, can’t be taken on their word. Call it a lesson learned and be done with him.

I’ve done a lot if bitching on here and elsewhere about how screwed up the Social Security/SSI systems are. Any lazy bum out there can get benefits . . . proven by the fact that about 99% of the people I have ever seen on SSI were quite capable of working, they just don’t want to. I have worked since I was 15 years old and am now in my 50s and still working. I have paid into Social Security my entire life. However, it is unlikely that I will ever see a dime. Why? Partly because our “President” is a POS and he, and all the idiots before him, have mismanaged the fund. The other problem is with these worthless fucks on SSI. The government should tighten the guidelines and not allow people a free ride because they have PTSD, fibromyalgia, major depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD or any of the other illnesses that you never even heard of 30 or 40 years ago!

I suffer from probable PTSD and fibromyalgia (based on descriptions of these supposed maladies). I have dealt with clinical depression since I was in my teens. I have had a cervical fusion and two knee replacements. I live with currently ruptured multiple lumbar and sacral vertebrae, chronic liver disease from a blood transfusion in the 80s and more.

I still get up and go to work every single day because I was raised to believe that nobody deserves something for nothing. I’m sure I could get SDD (not SSI because, again, I have WORKED for over 38 years and paid significantly into the system, making me entitled to benefits based on what I have paid in), but why? So I can become even more depressed and fucked up from sitting on my ass all day and doing nothing? No thanks.

I hope they throw the book at this dumb asshole.

Looks like another product of the “Coddling” generation. ….
I hate to admit I am from the east end these days. Sad what it has become.

  4. Antonia says:

The guy faked turrets for years in grade school. His “mental illnesses” has been used for getting away with shit. Just lock him up and though away the key

  5. BleeBloo says:

He’s 24 and has the presence of mind to avoid responsibility for his actions, smart enough to figure out how to close down a mill, and yet he’s been living off the taxpayers all his life. Way to game the system.

  6. BustyBabe says:

@Jordan—if this is true ,u need to get better friends.

  7. Kinney says:

Jordan you need to get an attorney and DO NOT reply to anything. Practice this “No comment”

  8. still waiting for justice says:

24 years old and on social security-mental health issues-really-dumb enough to call in a bomb threat and dumb enough to take his phone apart , but at least smart enough to get on social security at such a early age-one more deadbeat to take care of cause he cant work but he can call in a bomb threat to get one of his buddies off work to hang with him-one of his buddies that at least works for his money -just saying

  9. Jordan says:

Wow need to get the facts right I did not tell Dantine to call in mo bomb threat been working there for almost 3 years called in sick 1 time sign up to work extra days as a matter of fact. And yes did talk to him early that morning regarding some money he owed me said he would get his from his mother and give it to me on first break. Had no idea he would do something like this and it wouldn’t be the first time he has done this. I worked at Fred myer warehouse wit my brother and he had called told them we had a family emergency and my grandpa died. This is my job that I care about and want no mix in this bs. No need for my name to be thrown in here. Get your facts right.
