Sharyn’s Sirens: Daily police and fire roundup

THEFT CENTRALIA

• Centralia police were called about 2 p.m. yesterday to an apartment on the 100 block of South Silver Street regarding the theft of items including coins and jewelry. The case remains under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

DRUGS

• A 26-year-old client at a Chehalis drug and alcohol treatment facility was arrested last night after someone reported smelling heroin in a hallway. The individual was found in a restroom with suspected heroin and a pen fashioned into a smoking device, according to the Chehalis Police Department. An officer responding to the approximately 9:30 p.m. call from ABHS on the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue booked Gregory M. Temple, of Auburn, into the Lewis County Jail for possession of a controlled substance, according to police.

FROM THE COURTHOUSE

• The Vader couple charged in the October death of a toddler they were caring for are scheduled to go before a judge this afternoon to make their pleas. Danny A. Wing, 26, and Brenda A. Wing, 27, had a bail hearing after their arrest last month, but waived their rights for a timely arraignment so arrangements could be made for legal representation. Three-year-old Jasper Henderling-Warner died from what the coroner called chronic battered child syndrome. Three of the Wings’ own children were taken into the custody of Child Protective Services after the Oct. 5 death. The Wings are each charged as either the principal or accomplice with homicide by abuse or, in the alternative, first-degree manslaughter. Charging documents describe the child’s injuries, but offer no details of how the little boy got the injuries. The Wings gave detectives conflicting accounts of his final weekend. The couple remains held in the Lewis County Jail on high bail and are set to see Lewis County Superior Court Judge Richard Brosey at 3 p.m. today in Chehalis.
