CHEHALIS – The Alder Lake fire at the border of north Central Lewis County continues to smolder and held at 275 acres acres over the weekend.

Minimal fire behavior has been observed due to the precipitation over the incident, according to a report from incident commanders this morning.

The forest fire is 15 percent contained.

It is being managed by the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and the state Department of Natural Resources.

The lightning caused fire was first reported August 11, burning just south of Alder Lake. It is approximately four miles west of Elbe, five miles from Mineral and seven miles south of Eatonville.

About 150 personnel are assigned to battle the fire. Crews continue to work on hand lines on the south side of the fire. Minimal fire growth is expected for the next 24 hours.

A level one evacuation notice issued last Wednesday for people living on or near the Pleasant Valley Road remains in place.

Forest Road 74 and 7409 remain closed to protect public and firefighter safety.
