DOMESTIC ASSAULT

• A 34-year-old Winlock man was arrested last night after his wife reported she was slapped and then choked until she couldn’t breathe. The victim called from another location and a deputy responding to the couple’s residence on Hining Road arrested Rory D. Maddox Jr. for second-degree assault, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Maddox was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the sheriff’s office. The case is being referred to prosecutors for potential additional charges as he allegedly threatened to kill her as well, Chief Deputy Stacy Brown said. However, prosecutors declined to file the felony charge and moved the case for consideration of fourth-degree assault and misdemeanor harassment in Lewis County District Court.

HOSPITAL ASSAULT

• A 32-year-old Centralia resident being treated at a facility on the 900 block of South Scheuber Road in Centralia allegedly kicked a member of the medical staff in the head yesterday afternoon, leading to her arrest. Kazia D. Hartman was  booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree assault once she was cleared from treatment, according to the Centralia Police Department.

MYSTERIOUS ASSAULT

• After someone called 911 but then hung up about 12:30 a.m. today, an officer responded to the caller’s location and found a 57-year-old man who said someone came into his apartment on the 600 block of Northwest Center Street and choked him, according to the Chehalis Police Department. The man’s roommate slept through it, the victim didn’t see the intruder and he decided he didn’t need the officer to pursue the matter, according to police.

THEFT OF ELECTRONICS

• A deputy was called to a residence on the 100 block of Tucker Road in Ethel yesterday where an individual reported several items stolen, including an HP laptop computer, a Samsung phone and two checkbooks, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

THEFT OF HONDA CAR

• Police were called shortly after 2 o’clock this morning about the disappearance of a green 1995 Honda Accord from the 600 block of F Street in Centralia. The car has a license plate of ACG 3210, according to the Centralia Police Department.

THEFT OF BANK CARD

• A debit card was reported stolen yesterday afternoon from the 500 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia, according to the Centralia Police Department.

DRUGS AT SCHOOL

• A 17-year-old girl was arrested at W.F. West High School yesterday for possession of marijuana, according to the Chehalis Police Department. It was a very small amount loose in the bottom of a backpack, according to police. An incident report did not note how or why the girl’s backpack came to the attention of authorities, according to a police spokesperson. The girl was not booked; the case was referred to juvenile prosecutors for charging, police said.

VANDALISM

• Police were called about 2 p.m. yesterday to the 200 block of Northwest State Avenue in Chehalis where a vehicle window was damaged, possibly from  BB gun. The driver’s side window was intact but broken and had a hole in the center, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• A vehicle was “egged” and its paint was scratched at the 300 block of East Oakview Avenue in Centralia, according to a report made to police yesterday.
