CHEHALIS – Danny A. Wing was brought back from prison to Lewis County Superior Court, so he could sign a portion of his sentencing documents that were compiled after his Sept. 25 sentencing for the death of 3-year-old Jasper Henderling-Warner.
Wing, 27, is serving a 416 month sentence following his guilty plea to first-degree manslaughter and third-degree assault.
Jasper died in October 2014 from chronic battered child syndrome, after Wing and his wife had taken the toddler into their household. The family had recently moved to Vader.
The documents, called finding of facts and conclusions of law, related to the enhancements that allowed the court to give him more time than the standard sentencing range; that the victim was a member of his household, and that Wing abused a position of trust on a particularly vulnerable victim.
Wing didn’t sign them during the approximately five-minute hearing in front of Judge Nelson Hunt this afternoon. His attorney Todd Pascoe signed them for him.
Lewis County Senior Deputy Prosecutor Will Halstead told the judge Wing had filed several motions, on his own behalf, from prison – Halstead said out of the courtroom they related to his exceptional sentence.
But Wing, who spent several minutes with Pascoe before going before the judge, asked to withdraw the filings. He said he might want to refile them at a later date, with assistance from an appeal attorney.
Judge Hunt allowed them to be withdrawn. Wing noted that he is indigent and would have an appointed appeal attorney representing him.
Wing then had a hearing in family court, in the matter of the couple’s three children.
His wife Brenda A. Wing remains in the Lewis County Jail, awaiting her sentencing for her role in Jasper’s death.

There needs to be a final sentence and then put the case of these two killers away so the community and families can begin to heal.
My prediction here is Jasper’s mother will have ever more tormenting nightmares for the rest of her life. In these nightmares she will have left Jasper somewhere and will be searching everywhere for him fruitlessly night after night. She will hear that he’s here or there but will not find him. Hell on earth.
There are sins of commission and sins of omission. As a person’s conscious becomes more sensitive past grave sins will torment. The only refuge is denial which also has a cost.

We are content to let sleeping dogs lie and, although the terrible event pops up in our consciousness from time to time, we don’t have the courage to face it. As they say in AA try to make amends unless it will cause harm to others. In my case, although there is no legal jeopordy, and it may be cathartic to me to deal with it, I think that it would cause harm to others.

If people really want to know all of the details of what happened to Jasper there are public records requests for the charging documents and I am not sure about the autopsy report.

I think the only justice left Jasper is all of the love and support offered to him on this page. It is so sad that it took his getting murdered to have him find love but from all of the replies I know everyone here feels something for Jasper and that may be our only comfort (if you can call it that).

I didn’t know anything about Nicki giving Jasper to them until after he was already with them. And after I tried to get him several times Nikki wouldn’t give me their names or last names eventually she gave me Dannys name but told me she didn’t know their last name I checked every person on her facebook trying to find this guy. In about 3 or 4 weeks later got a call from Nikki saying Jas per was in the hospital and they wanted her to go down there but she had a warrant so told me to go. I took a cab to Chehalis, at the hospital for a half hour before I found out my my son had died. Nikki had not once asked me to take him nikki knew they were recovering heroin addicts she had only met them one time, I went to that hospital expecting to bring my son home with me so you guys can say whatever you want talk all the s*** you want but I love my son and wish more than anything I could have changed or do something different but nothing will bring him back Danny and Brenda Wayne will pay for what they have done

Unfortunately the appeal will not bring out the details of the abuse. They will only be looking at the aspects of the trial in regards to what is in the transcripts. The true story of Jasper’s suffering and abuse will most likely never be told. It will be in the charging documents and the autopsy report. That is the true record of all of the injuries and abuse.

I have to say I really don’t know what to think at this point. It is a shame that the full truth of what happened to the young boy is still unknown. I hope that through the appeals process that more will be learned of what happened to Jasper. However, if any misconduct on the prosecutions side of things is discovered. Any one involved needs to be perfessionally reprimanded. As far as I am concerned the Wings got what they had coming to them. But, let’s keep in mind there is now an appeal so we do not know the full story still. This is going to be a long one.
