ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A large branch from a big deciduous tree along South Market Boulevard dropped onto the roadway this morning, its fall broken by the rear end of a passing car. The back of the car was smashed, but nobody was hurt, according to the Chehalis Police Department. “It appears the tree was rotten,” department spokesperson Linda Bailey said.
