The cause of a fire that extensively damaged a vacant house last night in Centralia is under investigation and police are calling it suspicious.

A “boom” was heard and then flames seen inside the home at the 1800 block of North Pearl Street, just moments after a vehicle was seen, as well as people entering the building, according to Riverside Fire Authority.

Firefighters called about 9:20 p.m. found an estimated 70 percent of the first floor already burning, according to Capt. Tim Adolphsen.

The fire was extinguished and nobody found inside, Adolphsen said in a brief summary via email.

The police and fire departments are investigating.

I wonder if a city official owns this house. I know of two city officials that have had fires at their rentals now. Being a Contractor I see the damage that Renters leave behind on thesr investment propertys. Sometimes I think an Arsonist Tweeker is iften hired to remodel these homes with fire. We sure have had alot of suspect fires here. I wouldnt doubt if Centralia Ranks #1 in Wa. For Arson.

It had to happen, Bo. I can’t be wrong all the time.

King Gringo, Finally something we can agree on

You roll the dice either way. Sometimes renters are little better than squatters when it comes to taking care of a rental house. My wife and I own three and keep the rent below what we could be getting with the hope of getting tenants who’ll stay longer. None have trashed any of the houses (knock on wood) but some have left a bunch of garbage behind then they moved out. Fewer people respect other people’s property, even when they’re living on/in it, than ever.

Certainly something for landlords and sellers to thik about Shala….

Hmmm maybe if they would lower the rent on some of theses houses and put people in them this might not happen, just my opinion. So many empty houses getting broke into.
