CHEHALIS – A 41-year-old driver was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle last night after a single-vehicle wreck along state Route 6 about two miles west of Chehalis.

Troopers and aid called to the scene just before 11 p.m. found the sport utility vehicle was totaled.

Sarah D. Wilson, of Chehalis, had been traveling westbound when her Mazda Tribute left the roadway to the right, hit a tree, then crossed a driveway and hit another tree and then two parked cars, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Lewis County Fire District 6 reports nearby residents at the 1400 block of state Route 6 near Stearns Road said they came out right away and found the woman on the ground, partially beneath the front bumper, suggesting she may have been ejected. The state patrol reports she had been wearing a seat belt.

Fire department spokesperson DJ Hammer stated the patient suffered possibly life threatening injuries to her head and chest.

Wilson is listed in serious condition in the intensive care unit this morning, according to a hospital spokesperson.

The collision is blamed on inattention, according to the state patrol. Wilson faces a charge of second-degree negligent driving, the investigating trooper reports.

  1. Sarah's daughter says:

Ok don’t talk trash about my mom. She sucks at driving. She was not on her phone and there is nothing else to it. So quit your dumb accusations, they aren’t required.

  2. Peabody Slim says:

Lauri and Thor call the State Patrol and tell them that you don’t like their comments, make sure you add all that roll model stuff in too, and that eye for an eye bible babble garbage too. How else do you end up crashed into the side of a building? She sure wasn’t paying attention to the road. Step up to the plate and take responsibility. The State Patrol has is right! Inattention and negligent driving. Peabody Slim!

  3. Peabody Slim says:

The article says the State Patrol blames inattention as the factor causing the accident. So blame the state patrol. Not the Peabody. I wouldnt doubt if the cell phone was lodged between her air bag and forehead.

First of all, I’m glad she’s apparently going to be okay. However, I’m having a little problem with this line: “The collision is blamed on inattention, according to the state patrol. Wilson faces a charge of second-degree negligent driving, the investigating trooper reports.” Does this mean the State Patrol is piling on by making up a specious charge? Are they making things up?

  5. Monica says:

Thank-you Laurie & Sherman. It will be a long recovery for sure, but she’ll be okay ♡.

  6. Girg says:

Not long ago while traveling Tremont Blvd in Port Orchard the on coming truck crossed the centerline. A middle age female had her electronics at the top of the steering wheel text messaging. I swerved to the right at the last second to avoid a collision.

King James Version,… A log lol

  8. Lauri n Thor says:

I sat here in anger and frustration after reading the stupidly of Peabody Slims comment. This person has no clue how very precious, giving, loving and just absolutly amazing Sarah is. She would never text n drive. She is a role model to her children and a very important person here in our little community. I just couldn’t find the words but Sherman did, Thank You!! Monica squeeze that hand and love that sister of yours and let her know how much she is loved by her friends too and that prayers from Adna are pouring in to guide her in her recovery. And for the rest of you negative posting fools do it somewhere else!! This is positive, loving comments only, or you just re-read Sherman’s comment!!

  9. Monica says:

She was not on her phone, and especially not playing Pokemon. I still can’t figure out why people post comments to be funny or to talk about something unrelated. I’m in the ICU holding my sisters hand. I urge both of you to go find someone willing to teach you manners & proper social etiquette.

  10. Sherman says:

    Matthew 7:1-5English Standard Version (ESV)

    Judging Others

7 “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.

  11. Pikachu says:

I’ll bet she was playing Pokemon Go.

  12. Peabody Slim says:

Inattention is the charge, would that be Texting and Driving? The texting and driving epidemic must stop. The issue is real simple to fix, undercover text police need to wear google glasses or a high power video camera that records the act of texting and driving. The driver thats caught then gets jail time and a stiff 1000 dollar fine. The technology is here so why not keep the public safer since texting and driving freaks are everywhere I go. Record them fine them jail them. Stop them. If we can put a man on the moon we can catch a chump texting and driving.
