CHEHALIS – Deputies and firefighters were called out early this morning when passersby came across a truck that was wrecked and burning on a remote road south of Glenoma. The occupant was deceased.

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said the state patrol estimated the Ford F150 was traveling as much as 70 mph on a long straight stretch before striking a tree and catching fire.

The impact was so great it severed the tree, part of which fell back on to the vehicle, according to Breen.

It happened on the Champion 200 Line, a gravel road off of Champion Haul Road, he said.

The sheriff’s office was dispatched at 6:23 a.m. Members of Lewis County Fire District 18 were joined by personnel from Lewis County Fire DIstrict 14 and extinguished the fire.

Breen said they believe it occurred sometime around 5:30 a.m. or 6 o’clock.

The victim’s identity is being definitively established by the Lewis County Coroner’s Office, but the sheriff’s office suspects he is a 27-year-old Glenoma resident.

Chief Breen said as of this afternoon, they didn’t really know how or why it happened.

Hey y’all, what really pisses me off is this person traveling down a road at a high rate of speed with no regards for human life or wildlife. When you act selfish and have no regards for the safety of others you only reap what you sow. When a truck cuts a tree in half its all the proof one needs to show negligence. 70 mph on a gravel road you got what you deserved, we don’t need people committing selfish acts of stupidity. This person paid the price and was taxed with his life. How would you like it if you were on an ATV and this negligent person ran you over. This is Darwin’s natural selection at its finest. No brain no headache. One less dangerous person on the roads now if we can eliminate these pesky texters the roads would be better off

Think again. Sharyn has the right to block any post here. This is not a Government-run site, so the Admin has total control of who does or does not get a say. Sharyn has shown Zen-like patience with Peabrain Slim thus far; if she chooses to block him from posting, very few here would miss him. I hope he appreciates our gracious Admin for that, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Your right to free speech does not mean everyone has to listen. The 1st Amendment has no relevance here.

  3. Hey y'all says:

I understand he has the right to be on here!! But his comment on this subject really pissed me off!! The burning alive comment was the rudest comment I’ve seen!! How awful for the family!!! To see his comment broke my heart even thinking how awful the accident is them to make a comment that he was burnt alive is devastating!! PEEBODY doesn’t have that info to say that. Jst please respect family and friends that lost a loved one!!

    Now it’s a murder?

  5. motorboatin says:

Peabody has every right to say whatever he wants on here, as do you. I’m not sure but I think there is something in the constitution about it, if you don’t like it, maybe you should move or quit logging on and reading it.

That being said, maybe sometimes he shouldn’t rant on and on, but that is neither up to me or anyone else.

  6. Typical says:

Although i don’t always agree with Peabody, his take is RIGHT ON! Lewis County Sheriff’s Department is a JOKE! Nothing more than a bunch of clowns that can’t find their way out of a box. Let alone solve a murder.

  7. Carry on says:

Hey Peabody Slim, It was due to meth use and toxicology takes time but will reveal that if its still possible. Common sense has no place in an “investigation” because only evidence tells the truth. Chief (spelled correctly) Breen’s job is to determine the how and why. Let him do his job and please stop giving the people he swore to protect and serve a bad name with your name calling and assumptions.

  8. Concerned says:

A person has died. Someone’s family is mourning. And people have to act like idiots. Have some compassion.

  9. Hey y'all says:

This would be much more liked site if no comments were aloud!!!!! PEEBODY::: us in Lewis county don’t give a shit about ur rants!!! Go rant in your own county!!! YOU DO NOT LIVE IN LEWIS COUNTY!! You said it!!! You live thurston co. #peebodyofflewiscountysirenssite!!!

Chief Breen said as of this afternoon, they didn’t really know how or why it happened. Are you kidding me the truck cut a tree in half and burned the victim alive. The road was a deer and elk infested back road that was gravel. So at a glance a tree is cut in half and a truck is burned. Yet Chief Breen says he really didn’t know how or why this happed. Folks this is the reason our officials have earned such a bad name for themselves. Where is the common sense? Speed+ Gravel+severed tree+Fire= Death. A no brainier Cheif Breen. Find a new job in the private sector, you are an idiot.
