CHEHALIS – A 20-year-old Centralia resident implicated in a case in which a 37-year-old Centralia man was beaten inside his car in the parking lot at Providence Centralia Hospital entered into a plea deal and was sentenced to time served.
David Serrano Mosso was charged Aug. 3 for the July 28 incident and held on $500,000 bail.
Charging documents in the case describe the victim as meeting someone he’d sold some wheels to, in order to get paid, and two males getting into his car, one of them shoving a pistol into his ribs and them telling him to drive out to a wooded area. Police at the time said he got scared, and pulled into the hospital parking lot where he was pistol whipped.
He said he noticed a third male following them in a white Honda-style car.
Last Thursday afternoon, Serrano Mosso made an Alford plea to second-degree assault, stating he did not commit the crime but wanted to take advantage of a plea offer.
The charges of first-degree assault and first-degree kidnapping were dropped.
The following day, he was sentenced to 64 days in jail, up to 12 months of community custody and ordered not to have contact with the victim for 10 years.
The standard range for second-degree assault, given he had no criminal history, was three to nine months, but both sides agreed justice would be best served with a lower than usual sentence, according to court documents.
Lewis County Senior Deputy Prosecutor Will Halstead said that was because of the “facts in the case.”
Police are still looking for the other person or persons involved, Halstead said today.

Funny you say Clean living, even the Statue of Gandhi in Ghana is being removed do to alleged racism. Martin Luther King was a follower of Gandi’s peace quest and way of living also. I have a better idea instead of throwing the book at him. How about providing real rehabilitation instead of providing a prison for profit crime school. Let’s teach this person a job skill, get them the proper drug treatment he needs. Provide counseling and a foundation of a meaningful life skill. Who knows what has happened to this person during his life. Everyone has pity on Veterans that have PTSD and are willing to help Veterans. Yet offenders undergo childhood trauma, PTSD and many harmful life changing events. Our country has lost millions of jobs are rituals that once supported our society. Try viewing the problem from all angles. No meaningful programs for offenders no rehabilitation. Quit wasting money on the drug war and put it where it belongs, back into the offenders that need the help and who have fallen through the cracks. Our own Veterans Administration is letting vets die on waiting lists. Western State has failed the mentaly I’ll also. When will we realize the system is broken and is causing the problem from the inside out. Let’s throw the book at you Mr Perfect. Everyone has a Skeleton in their closet, if you say you don’t go look and the mirror and tell yourself that lie again.

When Lewis County prosecutors have the evidence to charge. continue building the case, and stop making deals with these thugs. These guys get back on the streets, and continue hurting people, and behaving like pucks. Threw the book at then, quit making deals.
