GASOLINE HEIST

• A deputy was called yesterday to a gas station in Packwood following the discovery someone had made access through an unsecured port to an underground tank and stole 100 gallons of motor vehicle fuel. The person reporting the incident had a printout that showed the theft occurred between 12:01 a.m. and 12:47 a.m. on Monday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. It happened at the 12000 block of U.S. Highway 12, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said. The case is under investigation.

CAR PROWL

• Police were called just before 7 p.m. yesterday for a vehicle prowl at the 2000 block of Haviland Street in Centralia. The victim said someone stole food and cigarettes during a 20-minute period while he was shopping inside a store, according to the Centralia Police Department.

UNWELCOME VISITOR

• A 39-year-old Centralia resident was arrested for second-degree burglary and third-degree malicious mischief as well as violation of a no-contact order just after noon yesterday when police responded to a location on the 300 block of Yew Street in Centralia. Ranier P. Wagner was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

UNLAWFUL CROP

• A 68-year-old man is charged with growing marijuana at his rural Winlock home. Steven L. Cook was summonsed to appear before a Lewis County Superior Court judge today, following a visit by drug detectives at the end of September where they say they found 69 plants on the property. Cook said he and his roommate had authorizations to grow the marijuana, however, he was only allowed to grow 15 plants and his roommate 6, according to court documents. The charge is manufacture of marijuana and the judge signed an order allowing him to remain free pending trial on a $5,000 unsecured bond.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A 64-year-old woman was arrested for driving under the influence yesterday after allegedly shearing off a fire hydrant with her mini van at Washington and Northeast North Street in Chehalis. An officer called just before 1 p.m. located Kristyn D. Andrews of Chehalis and she was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department.
