CENTRALIA HOUSE FIRE
• The cause of a Centralia house fire that displaced its occupants about 5 o’clock this morning is under investigation. Nobody was hurt but it left smoke damage throughout the residence and heavy fire damage in the laundry room, according to Riverside Fire Authority. Crews called to the 1400 block of West Main Street arrived to find the residents outside and were able to contain the blaze to the laundry room, according to Capt. Casey McCarthy. Representatives from the American Red Cross are providing assistance, McCarthy indicated.
BREAK-IN CHEHALIS
• A woman returning to her rural Chehalis home last night apparently interrupted a burglar. She found a rear door open and summoned neighbors who went inside with her at the 100 block of Whitney Boulevard, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. As they entered, they heard footsteps and an upstairs sliding door open, according to the sheriff’s office. A deputy dispatched at about 6:50 p.m. learned that two pieces of jewelry were missing from the bathroom, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said.
BREAK-IN CENTRALIA
• An officer was called to a residential burglary at the 900 block of Ham Hill Road in Centralia at about 11:25 a.m. yesterday in which jewelry was stolen.
PARCEL MISSING
• Police were called to the 1200 block of North Washington Avenue in Centralia just before 3 p.m. yesterday on a report of the theft of a delivered package from a front porch.
AUTO THEFT
• Centralia police located a stolen vehicle abandoned in a residential neighborhood yesterday. The case is associated with an address on the 1100 block of K Street, according to the Centralia Police Department.The vehicle was returned to its owner, according to police
CAR PROWL
• Chehalis police were called about 2:20 p.m. yesterday following the discovery at the 600 block of Northwest Middle Street that someone had attempted to pry open the trunk of a car there.
• Centralia police were called to the 1600 block of Military Road about 9:15 a.m. yesterday for a report of the theft of a purse from a vehicle. Credit cards were stolen, and then used in local retail businesses, according to the Centralia Police Department. The case is under investigation.
• Police were called just after 9 p.m. yesterday to the 3200 block of Galvin Road where someone had tamped with the storage door on a travel trailer.
DRUGS
• A 33-year-old Chehalis man was arrested for possession of heroin and outstanding warrants after police were called about suspected shoplifting at the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard in Chehalis at about 7:30 p.m. yesterday. Derek S. Shaughnessy was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department.
ALTERNATIVE LIVING
• Police were called about 12:25 p.m. yesterday to the 2400 block of Borst Avenue following the discovery a shed had been broken into and a sleeping bag left behind. It appeared someone had slept there, according to the Centralia Police Department.
VANDALISM
• Centralia police were called yesterday afternoon for two incidents of graffiti spray painted on to buildings. The first was at the 100 block of Harrison Avenue and the second on the 600 block of West Main Street, according to the Centralia Police Department.
ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD
• A motorist stopped for a traffic infraction about 11:50 a.m. yesterday in Centralia reportedly ran away but was subsequently detained and then arrested for an outstanding warrant, driving with a suspended license and obstructing a public servant. It happened at the 2400 block of West Reynolds Avenue, according to the Centralia Police Department. Guy A. McAllister, 38, of Chehalis, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.
