GLASS PIPE HEIST

• Someone broke into a Centralia smoke shop after hours last night, making off with what the owner estimates was about $2,000 worth of merchandise. Police called just before 11 p.m. to the 600 block of West Main Street noted the back door was smashed in. Smokin Js owner Jay Fratt said the thieves stole numerous glass water pipes. The burglary was captured by surveillance cameras and police are investigating, according to the Centralia Police Department. Fratt believes a pair of males browsing through the store a few hours earlier were actually casing the place. His cameras caught pictures of their faces as well, which he has shared with police. Smokin Js is in a new location, just west of the building it previously occupied.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• When a suspected drunken driver refused to pull over yesterday evening in Centralia, a patrol officer used the side of his vehicle to force the car to the curb, according to the Centralia Police Department. Police say the vehicle had struck a concrete parking stop and dragged it into the yard of a home in the area of the 1500 block of Jensen Avenue. The incident occurred around 6:45 p.m. and the driver was headed toward the heavily-trafficked Harrison Avenue, according to police. Michael L. Lindsey, 58, of Auburn, was then arrested for driving under the influence and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

AND MORE

• And, as usual, other incidents such as arrests for warrant, hit and run, driving under the influence, driving with suspended license; responses for alarm, dispute, harassment, third-degree theft, suspicious circumstances … and more among 117 calls for local law enforcement and / or fire-emergency medical services in the 24-hour period ending about 7 a.m. today.

One Response to “Sirens: Daily police and fire roundup”

  1. Peabody Slim says:

This is the best image the Smoking J’s Camera could provide? If that’s the case you better upgrade you’re system because it looks like Casper the ghost. What a joke if these are the best pictures or was this done on purpose so the CPD can still allow these low life theives to continue their operation all over town.
