The Olympian reports the 23-year-old Tenino man accused of choking his mother into unconsciousness and then cutting her throat with a kitchen knife is being held on $2 million bail.

News reporter Amelia Dickson writes a public defender told the judge he had substance abuse and mental health concerns regarding Roan Littlemoon when he appeared in Thurston County Superior Court on Wednesday.

Littlemoon was picked up in Longview on Tuesday morning, the day after deputies found 60-year-old Robin L. Tingle dead inside her residence on the 2800 block of 184th Avenue Southeast.

Dickson writes that Tingle was granted a protection order against her son last summer.
