The Olympian reports the 23-year-old Tenino man accused of choking his mother into unconsciousness and then cutting her throat with a kitchen knife is being held on $2 million bail.

News reporter Amelia Dickson writes a public defender told the judge he had substance abuse and mental health concerns regarding Roan Littlemoon when he appeared in Thurston County Superior Court on Wednesday.

Littlemoon was picked up [1] in Longview on Tuesday morning, the day after deputies found 60-year-old Robin L. Tingle dead inside her residence on the 2800 block of 184th Avenue Southeast.

Dickson writes that Tingle was granted a protection order against her son last summer.
