HEAVY EQUIPMENT VANISHES

• An officer was called about 9:45 a.m. yesterday to a business at the 1100 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue in Chehalis about a missing yellow and black Caterpillar 305.5 mini excavator with a bucket attachment. It disappeared sometime during May or June, according to the Chehalis Police Department. The loss is $67,465, according to police.

VEHICLE THEFT

• A 19-year-old Chehalis resident found inside a stolen Honda passenger car about 8:15 a.m. yesterday at the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue was arrested for possession of stolen property. The car was missing from Tacoma since May, according to the Centralia Police Department. Johnny Wright was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

• Centralia police were called just after 9 p.m. yesterday to the 1400 block of Crescent Avenue in Centralia where an individual reported a house guest took her vehicle without permission. The vehicle was later returned,  according to the Centralia Police Department.

OTHER THEFT

• Chehalis police were called to the 200 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue about 8:15 a.m. yesterday where a Milwaukee High Life light-sign and a pool cue had been taken from the yard.

• Chehalis police took a report of a residential burglary just before noon yesterday from the 300 block of Northwest Georgia Avenue. Missing is a Snap-On ratchet with extension ($200) and an impact wrench ($500), according to the Chehalis Police Department.

CAR PROWL

• Police responded about 4:45 a.m. today to the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia where several batteries had been stolen from vehicles parked behind a business.

• Centralia police were called about 6:40 p.m. yesterday to take a report of a vehicle prowl at the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia in which a cell phone was taken. The case is under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police were called just after 7 a.m. yesterday to take a report of an overnight vehicle prowl occurring on the 1200 block of West Main Street. A jack and cell phone accessories were missing, according to the Centralia Police Department.

DRUGS

• A passenger during an overnight traffic stop was arrested after a piece of foil and a smoking device fell to the ground when he was asked to step out of the vehicle. The foil field-tested positive for meth, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. It happened about 2:30 a.m. at South Market Boulevard and Fourth Street in Chehalis, according to the sheriff’s office. Logan P. Buholm was booked into the Lewis County Jail, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen reported this morning.

LOST AND FOUND

• A bag of a white substance was found in a parking lot at the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue in Chehalis about 4:40 p.m. yesterday. It was taken for destruction, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• A 19-year-old Centralia resident was arrested for hit and run after she allegedly struck another vehicle at the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue about 5:30 p.m. yesterday and left the scene. Adrianna M.R. Roberts was cited and then released, according to the Centralia Police Department.

THEFT, THEFT, THEFT

• Chehalis police were called about 6:45 a.m. today to take a report of the theft of a 25-ton log splitter stolen from the 1000 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue. The 2017 CountyLine splitter is valued at $1,000, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Centralia police were called about 5:45 p.m. yesterday to the 100 block of North Gold Street where someone had forced their way into a residence and stole jewelry, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Chehalis police were called just after 8 a.m. yesterday to the 700 block of Southwest William Avenue where property was stolen from the yard and from a vehicle. Among the missing items are a case of four Freeman nail guns, a pair of two-and-a-half gallon gas cans and a Campbell-Hausfeld air compressor, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reports this morning they are investigating the theft of a necklace and two credit cards from the 1200 block of Eshom Road in Centralia. The items were believed stolen between 10:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the sheriff’s office. Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said there is a person of interest in the case.

• A deputy was called yesterday to take a report of the theft of two cell phones from the 100 block of Orchard Drive in Salkum that occurred the weekend before last during a get together that included guests unknown to the victims. Missing are a pair of silver Samsung Edge S7’s each valued at $800, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• A blue Trek Fuel mountain bike was stolen from outside a business at the 200 block of South Pearl Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 9:30 a.m. yesterday.

DRUGS

• Police called at 12:06 a.m. today about apparent vehicle prowling in progress in an apartment complex parking lot at the 2800 block of Russell Road contacted two males, one of which ended up getting arrested for allegedly being in possession of heroin, according to the Centralia Police Department. Nicholas J. Huston, 24 of Chehalis, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

• A 29-year-old Centralia resident –  Brandon W. Hackney – was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and heroin following contact with an officer about 11:10 a.m. yesterday at the 400 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Chehalis police called about 10:45 a.m. yesterday about people believed to be “shooting up” in a car at the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue located paraphernalia which field tested positive for heroin, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Sarah A. Gee, 28, of Chehalis was arrested for drug possession and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

VANDALISM

• Chehalis police were called to the 600 block of Southwest William Avenue about 6:30 p.m. yesterday to take a report of graffiti spray painted on a garage door.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• Shortly after 5 p.m. yesterday, deputies attempted to stop a motorcycle that was southbound on Gold Street near the fairgrounds for reckless driving, but it fled and while another deputy caught up to it on Market Street in Chehalis, the motorcycle turned and headed north to Centralia, reaching speeds of 100 mph, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies discontinued the pursuit when the motorcycle turned onto Tower Ave driving the wrong way on the one way road, according to the sheriff’s office. Law enforcement is conducting follow-up to try to identify the driver, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen indicated this morning.

SHORT TERM VEHICLE THEFT

• Chehalis police were called at 11:59 p.m. yesterday to take a report that a red Toyota pickup truck had just been been stolen from the 400 block of Southwest 18th Street. A few minutes later another caller to 911 reported a red Toyota hit a utility pole at North Market Boulevard and Boistfort Street, and an officer subsequently made a traffic stop on the suspected stolen vehicle at the 700 block of South Market Boulevard, according to the Chehalis Police Department. It turned out to not be the missing truck, according to police. Shortly after 4:15 a.m., Chehalis police got word that a deputy had located the missing truck near state Route 6 and Scheuber Road, according to police.

GUN CRIMES

• Centralia police say two children shot several windows out of vehicles parked in the area of the 600 block of West Main Street with a pellet gun yesterday. Officers responding about 2:45 p.m. did not take the boys, ages 13 and 9, into custody, but are referring a case to prosecutors for second-degree malicious mischief, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Deputies were called yesterday to take a report of a firearm stolen from the 200 block of Bellicum Road near Morton. The $2,600 gun and some tools were taken from beneath a collapsed outbuilding sometime since January, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Missing is a nickel-plated .45 caliber Colt Combat Commander 1911, according to the sheriff’s office.

GARAGE CRIME

• Chehalis police were called to the 100 block of Southwest Fourth Street about 11:15 a.m. yesterday following the discovery a garage had been burglarized. Missing was a red and black 4000-watt Generac generator, two five-gallon plastic gas cans and a toolbox containing heavy duty Craftsman sockets, according to the Chehalis Police Department. The loss is estimated at $1,130, according to police.

PETTY THEFT

• Centralia police were called just before 10 o’clock yesterday morning about the front tire being stolen from a child’s bicycle at the 300 block of N Street.

DRUGS

• Two people were arrested about 4:15 a.m. today at the 1400 block of Alexander Street in Centralia. Jessica R. Gladue, 38, of Centralia, was arrested and booked for several outstanding warrants as well as possession of heroin and methamphetamine, according to the Centralia Police Department. James L. Allen, 50, of Winlock, was also arrested for providing false information to a public servant, according to police.

• Chehalis police were called about 1:25 p.m. yesterday to a store at the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue where some suspected methamphetamine had been found. It was turned over for destruction, according to the Chehalis Police Department.
